Does Reverse Light Circuit Provide 12 Volts for any Circuit Attached to It
Published 05/08/2015 >
Question:
Does the reverse light provide 12v for anything attached to them? I tried to quick splice some wires for my reverse cam and I am not sure its getting power or enough power because I get a black screen on my aftermarket stereo.

The reverse light circuit of a vehicle will have 12 volts on it when the vehicle is put in reverse. You would want to be careful using this circuit to power just anything though as it does have an amp rating that if you exceeded would blow a fuse.
Quick splice connections can sometimes be hit or miss. I would recommend you check that the circuit you quick spliced to the reverse light circuit is actually getting 12 volts when your vehicle is put in reverse. If not, then the problem is the circuit isn't making a good connection.
