Question:

I now realize the factory crossbars on my 2015 Toyota Highlaner are a Fixed 27inch apart. What recommendations would you have for a Kayak carrier for 2 kayaks? Would two Thule Hull-a-ports work? it seems to me that 27inch is a bit narrow, but thats what I have to work with. What would you suggest?

The minimum crossbar spread for many kayak carriers is 24 inches so a 27 inch spread on your 2015 Toyota Highlander will work. The Thule Hull-A-Port, # TH834, is a fit for the factory roof rack on your Highlander. I do not see a problem with putting two of these on the roof of the Highlander.

But you will need to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Toyota for the roof rack capacity prior to loading.

Using a wheel step such as # HE4040 makes accessing the roof safer than standing in an open door of the vehicle.
