Question:
I had the above Brake Controller installed. They used the Cig lighter 20amp fuse for power. The controller works fine until I press the Manual lever, the lights flash, the unit clicks and the fuse blows. I tried a 30 amp fuse also and the same thing happened it just took a few seconds longer. Jeep Commander 2006, 5.7 Hemi. Should the BC have a fuse installed at all or should it be hard wired? Does the 06 Commander have a PLUG and PLAY harness from the factory? Im getting mixed responses from the Dealer, one says yes others are clueless. Any help would be appreciated.

You definitely want to hardwire the power wire for the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 to the battery of your 2006 Jeep Commander.
However, since you said the problem is also happening with a 30 amp fuse installed in the fuse location for your cigarette lighter (this is not recommended at all), you probably have a short somewhere on the brake output circuit for the controller. Most likely this is corrosion on the front or back of the connector on your vehicle.
I would recommend you track down the short on the brake output circuit and then hardwire the controller to your battery with a circuit breaker like part # 38630 with 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 sold by the foot.
