Does Yakima Roof Rack Mounting Hardware Self-Lock or is it Meant for One-Time Installation
Published 04/09/2015 >
Question:
Are the anchor plates self-locking somehow? When removing the landing pads, I tried to loosen the bolts, most of them were very tight on loosening and felt like they were cross-threaded. I thought maybe they are one-time use?

Aftermarket roof racks including those from Yakima are meant to be taken off and put back on as needed. It is possible that if the roof rack was on long enough the hardware could seize up a little. Check to see if the hardware can thread in and out like normal and if it can then it was likely that the hardware was bound up a little or perhaps a combination of grit and time caused it to seize a little.
I do recommend using some penetrating spray and a wire brush to make sure the threads are clean. If something is damaged, we likely have a replacement or, if we don't, we could more than likely get it.
