Coil-Rite Air Bags are Noisy on a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Updated 04/09/2015 | Published 04/08/2015

Question:

Has this been a problem? On my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited, they chatter like chipmunks and squeak, with normal city drivingnot smooth roads for sure, but normal manhole covers, uneven pavement and such. Every little movement is heardruh uh, ruh uh almost amplified up thru the frame of the car. Have to turn the radio up to cover it. When it rained it was less, but I wouldnt think water would be a good lubricant! Any suggestions?

Water doesn't make a good lubricant but it could help temporarily with squeaky things. Regardless this is the first time I have heard of this issue. It is possible that the air bags are not all the way seated or they could be inflated beyond the maximum, which is 35 psi for kit # F4170. Or you may need to try more or less air pressure (as long as you stay within that 5 to 35 psi range).

I am wondering if the bags are making significant contact with the coil springs. They will touch it but if the air bags are bulging out between coils that is another indication they are over inflated.

It is not likely on a 2014 model vehicle but if the suspension was not in good working order prior to installation that could be a factor as well. You may need to check to make sure that the bags are lined up and seated properly.
