The purpose of trailer wiring harnesses like the part # 118401 that you referenced is to connect your vehicles taillight signals to the trailer lighting so that when your brake lights/turn signals/running lights are activated on your tow vehicle the trailer lights do the same.
Since you have a 4 cylinder model 2007 Kia Sportage you would want the part # 119178KIT instead of the # 118401 as it has only been confirmed to fit the 6 cylinder models.
