Question:

I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler with the standard spare and am looking for a 2 bike carrier. I would prefer a hitch mount platform type but it must stick out at least 7 inches from the mount including the bike in the carry position. Do you have anything like this? If not I could also use a hanging rack as long as it has the 7 inch clearance. A question on hanging racks is how does a femal bike with no upper crossbar attach. Thank you

First let's start with a hitch on your 2012 Jeep Wrangler. For that I would recommend the Curt Hitch part # 13432 unless you already have one. Since you said that you have 7 inches from what I am assuming is the hitch opening to the spare.

Because you need that much clearance you are going to have a hard time getting a platform bike rack to fit, but I do have a great option for you.

My favorite 2 bike rack is the Saris SuperClamp EX 2 part # SA4025F because it's a platform bike rack which means it's easy to load/unload, it's light weight at only 35 lbs, it's made in the USA, and it only touches the bikes at the tires. This rack will have no problem clearing your spare in both the folded up and folded down (carry) positions.

Since you plan on carrying women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point.
