Question:
I have a Firestone commander II single gauge system. After inflating bags and wanting to deflate bags I have to feather the switch in the up position to deflate and try not to turn compressor on. Pushing down does not work. What do you think may be wrong?

It sounds like there is a problem with the switch or with the wiring to/from the switch. This could happen if the contacts inside the switch are dirty. With the vehicle off you should be able to move the switch to all positions several times to clean off the contacts.
For the wiring you will want to look for any corrosion, pinched, or frayed wires. Also make sure everything is grounded to clean metal surfaces.
If you continue to have issues then make sure everything is wired up per the instructions. And if you still have problems after that then it is possible that the switch, or some other component, is bad and needs to be replaced.
We have replacement wiring harness # F9307. For a single gauge we have # F9181.
