Today we're going to review part number AH-40276. This is the Houston Texans NFL tailgater two-inch trailer hitch cover made by the Alfred Hitch Cover Company. This is a durable, cast, noncorrosive alloy construction. On the very front, you can see it uses a weather hardened enamel color fill to get the nice bright colors of the Texans logo on the front. It does come, if you notice, the built-in bottle opener so when you're out tail gating, you can open your bottles that have the bottle caps on them just by putting it right in there and popping it open. It is rattle proof by using the included foam gasket that goes on before you install it into your hitch receiver to help make it rattle proof and to help seal it to keep any dirt or grime from getting inside your hitch receiver opening. This is designed to fit on two-inch trailer hitch openings.
It does also come with the two different size wire inserts and when you do install them, you just choose one of the wire inserts. I'm going to show you how to do that in a minute here. It does require a pin and a clip or a hitch lock for installation, that we do sell those items separately and that will hold the pin and clip or the hitch lock will hold this into place on your hitch receiver, and I do have an example. We do list the pin and clip and a hitch lock as a related product that you can purchase on the product page for this hitch cover. I do happen to have one of those related products.
It's the PC3 pin and clip. I'm going to show how this installs. Basically what this will do is the reason they give you two wire inserts is because one is shorter than the other, so you choose the correct one and then on the very back of the hitch cover, you'll notice there's four tabs that fit into the two-inch opening. On two of the tabs, the holes are about a quarter of an inch lower than the holes on the two other tabs. The reason they've got two different size holes and the two different wire inserts is because the hitch pin location on some hitches will vary in distance so you will have to choose the correct wire insert and which holes they'll fit in for your application. What I'm going to do here is I've got an example right here of a two-inch receiver opening right here. I've already ahead of time found out which ones work in there and it's the shorter wire insert on the holes that are at the lowest point.
What you want to do is take the foam gasket, put it in to help seal it. You're going to use the shorter one and put it on the lower holes. Just go ahead and insert it into those holes and now you'll see you've got your insert in here that the hitch pin will go through to hold it into place. Again, you only need to use one of these inserts. You do not need to use both of them.
You go up to there, make sure your hitch cover is up in the right position, push that clip together, and then go ahead and just push your hitch cover in up against there. What has happened is this insert has gone past the hitch pin hole, so you take your pin, take the clip off. We'll go ahead and put our pin through here. You'll notice what you'll have to do is just line it up, push it through the wire insert and then push it through the other side. Go ahead and put your clip on and then if you'll notice, your hitch cover is very secure. It doesn't move an inch. Very quick easy installation. Then to remove it, just pull the clip, pull the hitch pin all the way out. Then you can just remove your hitch cover and you have access to your hitch receiver opening. A note about the Tailgater 2 hitch cover. I ordered one as a replacement. It's so cute that everyone tries to take it, so a lock is mandatory. Remove from the vehicle before sending it through a car wash. The first one was snatched right off the car and broken.

I had a product like this before from the NFL shop and it was double the amount. This product came quick and in great condition.

I tried to insert the trailer hitch cover after I installed the appropriate bracket however it will only go in halfway. This unfortunately will not work
Do NOT order this product. It's a piece of junk! After receiving this product the first time, the red section of the 'O' fell off after two months. Etrailer made me pay to ship the defective product back. After receiving my replacement product from Etrailer, the same thing happened again after 10 months! I'm now stuck with this defective product because Etrailer's warranty is for 3 months only. I'm extremely disappointed that Etrailer is selling such an inferior and flawed product!

The overall quality of the hitch cover is EXCELLENT!! Beautiful, rich colors and you can tell that it'll last FOREVER!! I will have to admit that I had to make a slight modification to the hitch cover so that it would sit flush with the trailer hitch. I added a 1/4" thick aluminum spacer between the bracket and the hitch cover itself so that the hitch pin would go through the hole closest to hitch cover rather than the second hole. I will say that it looks much better having the hitch cover inserted all the way in rather than protruding a little bit out from the trailer hitch. It was an easy fix, and I also got some Stainless Steel machine screws so I wouldn't have to worry about any rusting issues of the hardware. I'm now thinking I might get another one for my twin brother...;-)

Received this on 2/12/22 by UPS. Box came damaged with a UPS label on it stating (RECEIVED IN DAMAGED CONDITION). Opened the box up and parts were scattered all over inside the box without it even being in the blister pack. Like it was just thrown in the box. Checked to see if all the parts were there and they were. If the Hitch Cover was damaged, I was going to send it back Since I payed a lot of money for this item. This is my Third Packers Hitch cover from etrailer. First was damaged by a rear end collision, Second just wore out after a couple years. This one I plan on spraying with a clear polyurethane over the top to see if I can extend the life of it. Great product by ETRAILER. Would buy it again. Packaging needs to be more thought out.

The hitch cover is very nice quality and easy to install. There is minor assembly including just attaching the arms to the back of the cover with four screws. All hardware is included. On my vehicle in 5 minutes and looks good. Very pleased with the star logo.
Sturdy. Heavy. Built to last. You'll need Loctite for screws. Also, for those who have a Toyota Tundra, the hitch cap will stick out about a 1/4". The way holes match up on the bracket and the receiver do not allow the hitch cover to lay flush against the receiver. Other than that, it's an awesome piece!
I purchased 2 hitch covers this Christmas. One was for our new car that said Nissan which is very classy looking but a light grade of metal. The second was for my truck and represented my favorite football team the Kansas City Chiefs and was made of a heavy duty metal. It is nice to have something to protect the hitch from the winter salt and sludge that also looks great!

Car hitch cover was found to be exactly as represented on the picture or you all's web site. The price was very reasonable; It was easy to install and looks cool on my SUV. Gave four stars because it didn't quite fit flush on the hitch assembly rod. Overall, very satisfied.

Hello, the hitch cover over the winter did not hold up well like my past hitch cover. I ordered the same one 2 years ago and the color part of the cover falls off in the winter as did my current one.
