Features to know about

Heats Without Wasting Propane

When you're heating with propane, it adds up - fuel stops, refill costs, and constantly wondering if you have enough to make it through the night. This rooftop unit with a built-in heat pump changes that. The heat pump uses electric power to take the edge off cold mornings, so your furnace doesn't have to do all the work. You get reliable warmth through the same ceiling assembly you use for cooling, and the more you heat with electric, the less propane you burn. It's one less system to manage, and one more reason you can camp longer without thinking about your fuel gauge.

Optimized for Reduced Power Consumption

Looking to stay cool without stressing your electrical system? This high-efficiency unit delivers full-capacity cooling with a focus on energy-conscious performance. It's built for RVers running on smaller generators, limited shore power, or older rigs with tight electrical margins, so you stay comfortable without overloading your setup.

Ties Into Your Existing Ductwork

This ducted air conditioner pushes cooled air through the vents in the ceiling, delivering consistent airflow across multiple rooms in your RV. With a GE ducted system, the rooftop unit connects to a ceiling assembly that ties into your existing ductwork, giving you whole-RV comfort with a clean, built-in look. It's a great choice for larger RVs or anyone who wants to control airflow from front to back, not just in the room below the AC. If you already have ducts in place, this setup gives you full-zone cooling without compromising space or layout.

A Smarter, Future-Ready Choice

A lot's changed in RV cooling over the years, and one of the biggest shifts is what's inside the system - not just the tech, but the refrigerant itself. This model uses R-32, a newer refrigerant that cools efficiently while producing significantly less environmental impact. It's cleaner, more future-friendly, and already becoming the standard across the industry. If you're replacing an aging unit, you're not just upgrading your airflow you're upgrading what's behind it.

Video Transcript for Review of GE Appliances RV Air Conditioners - 13500 Btu Black HE Ducted AC Heat Pump - GE45ZR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this GE Appliances 13,500 BTU black high-efficiency ducted RV air conditioning system with heat pump. Now, this is going to be a great option for you to consider if you're looking to upgrade or add an air conditioner system on your RV's ducted system in your small to medium-sized camper. And this high-efficiency 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to cool evenly and it even has a built-in heat pump for those chilly mornings, all from a brand that you trust. Now, this does use the more energy-efficient R32 refrigerant, which is going to meet the 2025 EPA regulations.

So this unit is not going to be backwards compatible with any air conditioning systems from 2024 and earlier because of that new R32 refrigerant. This will be a bolt-on installation with the included hardware that you see right here. And this is going to fit roofs from two inches to six inches thick with an opening size of 14 3/8 inches long by 14 3/8 inches wide. Let me give you some overall dimensions of the unit itself, just so you have a good idea of its size. So the overall length, measuring back to front, is gonna be right at about 32 13/16 inches long.

The overall width, right at 26 1/8 inches wide. The overall height, 13 15/16 inches tall, almost 14 inches tall. And this is gonna weigh a little bit under 80 pounds, the unit itself, altogether. So this is going to run quietly. The motor has sound-dampening grommets to help reduce that annoying humming sound.

And again, as I mentioned at the beginning of our time together, this does include a heat pump. So that, as you probably know, pulls warmth from the air to heat your RV on those chilly mornings. And this is going to be an easy swap for most RVs. It's gonna seamlessly install over your preexisting roof vent and the preexisting roof vent opening. And this is built tough for the road.

It is constructed of high-grade materials that's going to withstand extreme UV rays and that constant vibration from going down the road. And this black, hard, automotive-grade polymer shroud is going to protect those internal components from dirt, debris, and water. And the shroud can also be easily removed for maintenance and cleaning, if you ever need to do it. I do wanna point out that you need to keep the rear of the air conditioner unit at least 18 inches away from any obstructions, just so you're aware of that. And let me go ahead and zoom in on this side of my table here to go over the components that are included with this system. So you're gonna get this air distribution box. And this is going to be built to handle the road vibrations and everyday RV life. And let me go ahead and swing this around, just so you can get a view of the back of it. And just to give you some measurements of this air distribution box, the width and the length or the height, however you wanna identify that measurement, we're gonna be sitting right at 17 5/8 inches. And then, as this is installed in your ceiling, it's going to be coming down from your ceiling about 5/8 of an inch. So it's not gonna be taking up a whole lot of head room at all in your RV, which is nice. I guess you could almost consider this like a lower-profile air distribution box. Let me jump over to the thermostat here. It's a black thermostat. I'm gonna bring this closer in view here. Hopefully, it doesn't get lost in the color of my shirt here. But this is a single-zone thermostat and it does have these easy-to-use buttons. And it also has a really nice, large, easy-to-read LED backlit digital display. So it's gonna be very easy to see in all lighting conditions. And, in case you we inchesre wondering about the measurements of this little guy here, looking at the width and the height, about 3 1/2 inches, and the width, about an inch thick. Hardware is also included to get that thermostat in place. And hardware does come with, obviously, the air distribution box as well. And then, let's take just a really quick look at this control box. This is a fireproof control box or control board. So this is going to, obviously, control the functions of your air conditioning unit. And some measurements here, looking at the overall height or length is 7 1/2 inches. The overall width, 6 7/8 inches. And then, the overall thickness, about 2 3/8 inches. So all of this is going to be included with this system. Virtually everything that you need to get up and running. And this is, obviously, a GE brand, so it's a trusted brand. It's a reliable name that you know for home appliances. And so, you're gonna bring that same trust and reliability into your RV. And so, if this isn't exactly what you're looking for, the good news is we do carry a wide selection of other air conditioner systems from GE. So whether you're looking for a higher BTU rating or a system for a ductless system, whatever you're looking for, I'm confident that we're gonna have exactly what you need. So take a look at those other options that we offer. Now, if you do decide that this is going to be what you're looking for and you get this ordered and installed on your RV, we would love to hear back from you regarding your experience with the installation and with the operation of this unit. So when you get some time on this product page, drop us a review, leave us a comment, let us know your experience with this system. We would love to hear back from you and also see some pictures of your setup. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
