SnowBear Proshovel Snowplow for 2" Hitches - Electric Actuator - 88" Wide x 26" Tall
part number: SB324-140

Hitch-mounted snowplow makes short work of your snowy driveway or parking lot. Pivoting, 5-position blade glides over uneven ground. Long-lasting actuator with internal clutch lets you operate plow from your warm cab.

Features:

  • Hitch-mounted plow lets you clear parking lots and driveways with your vehicle
  • Plow sits close enough to vehicle to reduce leverage and strain on plow, mounts, and vehicle
  • Electric actuator raises and lowers plow smoothly and consistently
    • Internal clutch prevents damage caused by attempting to under- or overextend the actuator
    • Simple, chain-lifting design has fewer moving parts than a winch
  • In-cab toggle switch lets you raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your vehicle
    • Includes a wireless remote control as an alternative to the toggle switch
  • Adjustable, 5-position blade can be manually angled left, right, and straight ahead
    • Manual release handle is easily accessible from front or back of plow
  • Terrain-adjustable design for efficient plowing with less tripping
    • Rocking blade pivots up to 6" to allow maneuvering over uneven terrain
    • Trip springs and eyebolts are angled so blade rests on ground at correct angle
  • Sturdy steel edge scrapes over a variety of solid surfaces - not for gravel or sand
    • Poly scraper blade attachment (SB324-070 - sold separately) allows you to plow over grass or decorative pavement without worry of damage
  • Skid shoes let you adjust plow height to prevent blade from digging into the ground
  • Strong rubber deflector allows for better visibility by directing snow away from your windshield
  • Red visibility markers help you see plow edges so you can steer away from obstacles
  • Rugged and durable, all-steel construction
  • Black powder coat finish provides corrosion resistance
  • Simple installation
    • Slides into your vehicle's 2" front trailer hitch receiver

The SnowBear Proshovel conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for easy, convenient mounting. Smoothly and easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric actuator. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain. Angled trip springs are also built in to help keep the blade from catching and tripping. Being just 39" away from the bumper, the Proshovel snowplow has a compact yet strong and sturdy design.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

HITCH MOUNTING

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. Unlike a plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets, which ties you down to just 1 vehicle, this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

To install the Proshovel snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver . Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

How to Plow

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, 11 degrees to the left or to the right, or 22 degrees to the left or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote or the in-cab toggle switch, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the Proshovel.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Smooth, Controlled Lifting with Electric Actuator

ACTUATOR

The electric actuator on this plow allows you to lift and lower the blade using a toggle switch that mounts in your cab. You can also use the included wireless remote control. To raise the plow, activate the actuator. As the actuator moves along the internal screw, the arm on top of the actuator will pivot, raising the plow blade by pulling the chain that is attached to it. Having fewer moving parts than a typical winch makes this setup less complicated and less likely to break down than other plow lifting and lowering devices. There is also an internal clutch system that prevents damage to the actuator should you try to raise the blade too high or lower it too low.

Add-On Accessories

SnowBear offers a plethora of helpful accessories to make plowing even safer and easier. Along with the available accessories to enhance your snowplowing experience, many parts of the SnowBear Proshovel snowplow are available separately, so you can replace worn-out pieces without having to replace the whole plow.

LIGHT KIT

The off-road halogen light kit (SB324-127) may be necessary if your plow blocks your vehicle's headlights. This kit will light up the way when you're plowing at night or in the early morning. The light kit mounts directly to your plow frame and offers increased visibility when plowing in dark conditions. The 2 bright halogen lights make it easier for you to see where you are going and for others to see you.

CASTER KIT

With the caster kit (SB324-126), it will be a breeze to move and store the Proshovel snowplow when it's not in use. These wheels mount directly behind the blade and they can be easily folded down for use and up for storage. In addition, these wheels will not weigh the plow down.

DROP KIT

The drop extension kit (SB324-128) allows you to use your SnowBear snowplow on your lifted vehicle. With 6" of drop, this bolt-on kit ensures that the plow makes proper contact with the ground. Its sturdy steel construction is just as strong and durable as the plow itself.

POLYBLADE

If you are worried about causing damage to your lawn or pathway, the poly scraper attachment (SB324-070) is perfect for replacing the harsh, steel scraper on the Proshovel. The polymer construction is strong enough to still help plow efficiently, but gentle enough to not hurt your lawn or pathway.

How it was received; either is was mail destroyed or UPS did this in the process. No telling what parts are missing, waiting for UPS to come pick this and E-Trailer to send out replacement.

I thought these product would be packaged better from the factory for shipping resilience.

2005 GMC Sierra

This hitch was very easy to install....I had to trim the lower air dam to fit around the receiver and that gives it a clean neat look.
I didn't like that I had to remove and leave the shields around the tow hooks off. But overall I'm very pleased.
I plan to use this hitch for maneuvering a camper in a narrow spot beside my home, and for a bike rack when towing a camper.

The Curt front hitch is GREAT!I use it to help move my camper beside my house which is lacking clearance to back in. I will certainly install one on my next truck.

by: Olen09/19/2022

Of the many hitch receivers I have purchased, the front mounted ones have never failed to surprise me of their usefulness! From bike racks, to carrier for coolers, to my chainsaws, gas and oil, they make it work. Recently while cutting wood for a hunting lease engagement, I put a second ball on the front and used it to drive a 16' trailer up a hill to get the wood where it was needed for offloading. Backing it up had resulting in damaged trucks, trailers and numerous attempts. Using the front hitch it was a one and done deal! Love it! I have even used it to pull trees over when felling. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the uses! If you have ever thought about it, just stop and order! You won't regret it!

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I gave this hits only 4 stars since all of the available information indicated it would bolt right on to my 2003 Avalanche 1500 (All Models) with no modification, but it wasn't quite that simple. First off, my Avalanche has the plastic cladding. The end brackets of the hitch push the bottom of the air dam under the bumper down a bit and make it bow out. I had to remove the bracket that secured the air dam to the center of the frame. I mounted the hitch in the upper position since I didn't want it to be so low, and the receiver ends up being 8" back from the bumper facia. I had to order an 8" extension to bring it out past the bumper. Other than that, I'm happy with the hitch. I just wish the fitment guide was a little more specific.

Bryan C.

8/13/2013

Did the hitch still come out under the cladding? Or do u need to make a hole for extension? Thanks Bryan 2004 avalanche with clading

William

8/20/2013

Since I installed the hitch in the upper position, I had to cut a hole through the claddingbumper. This came out near the bottom of the license plate recess. I then use the 8 extension if needed. This brings the receiver out in front of the bumper.

I have a 2006 Silverado 2wd LD truck and mounted a curt front trailer hitch ... I mounted both side plates first without tighten down.. I then mounted the 2" receiver section ... Tightened that down then, finished cranking down side brackets !!!!! Done !!!! However I did have to cut the backside of the tow hooks facia plastic with a jig saw no problem ... I never cut into the cup portion I just cut some of the extra plastic in the back off DONE !!!!!!!

by: Leon Thompson10/08/2020

I have had this on my 2005 Chevy Silverado for a year. I have used it to hold a Yakima bike rack once but mostly to carry a large toolbox for camping trips. Easy to install. I kept my plastic air damn on and just cut out a square hole for the hitch.

by: Mark S.09/18/2014

The shipping was quick. Installed easily. The hitch is visible just below the fascia at the bottom of the bumper. I had a front hitch on my previous truck (Tacoma); also from etrailer. I use the front hitch to move my travel trailer into tight spaces.

Originally, with this recent purchase, I had purchased the incorrect item. All it took was an email from the staff at etrailer. The email contained product return instructions along with an RGA#. I just returned yesterday. This extra customer service made the return process quite simple.

With all my needs regarding hitches, etc. I will always check etrailer first.

Installation extremely easy, line up holes and bolt together, that simple. No trimming required.
Purchase front hitch to park 29 FT. camper at a cramped storage facility. Dropping the camper off now is as easy as picking up the camper.
All parts well packed. Website easy to use, prices are right and easy to track shipment. Would purchase from website again.

New hitch is installed as you can see in the picture. Installation was a snap. Already doing work. Thanks again will buy from you all again.

Ford Transit Connect

I can’t address the installation as the box arrived torn and some of the nuts and bolts were rattling in the box. Now I have to wait for the missing hardware. The hitch itself looks to be high quality and you would think that quality packaging would be a priority. All it would take is a heavy plastic bag wrapped in cardboard to protect the bag of hardware from ripping open in transit.

by: Mark10/28/2021

Good hitch, easy installation, fast shi pping.

Mark

Hitch is great, but Im using it on a snow plow that has stabilizer bars that are supposed to align with the hitch crossmember. Because the hitch itself is mounted on the bottom of the crossmember, they do not align.

Quality product that installed quickly and quite easily. It gets a "thumbs up" from me!

by: Charles05/15/2020

Product arrived in a timely manner and was the right fit.. was easier to install than I thought it was going be. Took about 45 minutes. Only gripe is that the bolts that attach to the frame of truck spin even when they are in the metal plate when tightening down. Used a pair of pliers to hold end of bolt while using wrench to tighten. Other than that, exactly what I needed.
