Thule Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Jake: Hey, guys. It's Jake here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you some of the cool features on this Thule ThruRide Bike Rack on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat.So with your Passat, you're going to have to add a roof rack to the top of your vehicle. We do have plenty of these available here at etrailer. And it's going to mount to the front and back crossbar by a couple of bolts.This bike rack is going to support your bike by the forks on the front, so by taking the front wheel off our bike, we're able to insert our two front forks here onto this locking pin. Now, my favorite part about this bike rack has got to be that it's a no-tool installation.



Rhino Rack MountainTrail Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we are test fitting the Rhino rack, mountain trail rooftop bike carrier. Part number for that is RBC035. As you can see, we do already have our bike on our rack. We're going to show you how we secure it in and then also how we secure our rack to our crossbars. So if we take a look back here, you can see we do have a strap, holding down that wheel. The strap's just going to keep that wheel in place and keep that from going anywhere. If you take a look upfront, we do have a skewer on the fork mounts here. To loosen it, you just pop that open and it just snaps back into place to tighten it down.



Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat we are test fitting the Inno Fork Lock Roof Mounted Bike Carrier. Its a T-track mounted carrier so it is going to fit in that track on the cross bars here. The part number for that is INXA391. Now as you can see we do already have our bike on our carrier. I am going to show you how we strap down the bike and also how we mount that in that T-track. The first thing we will take a look the back wheel here. We've got a strap holding that in.



Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat INA392

Today, on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we are test fitting the INNO Multi Fork Lock Roof Mounted Bike Carrier. The part number for that is INA392. As you can see, we do already have our bike on here. We're going to show you how we secured the bike as well as how we secured the biker carrier to our cross bars and some features of the carrier as well. Back here, we've got a single strap and we'll create all for the back of our bike here. In the front, it's a little more complicated. We've got this locking cover here and anti-theft piece here and a skewer that's going to tighten and loosen on your forks of your bike to accommodate different types of bike frames that you may have. If you we're wanting to take everything off, you'd first start at the back wheel here, press down on the black lever and lift straight up on that strap.

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we are test fitting the Inno Fork Lock III Bike Carrier. Part number for that is INA391. As you can see, we do already have our bike on our carrier. Were going to show you how we mount the bike and secure it and then also how we secure the bike to the crossbars and some features of the rack itself. We take a look back here, you can see, we do have a strap pulling that in. We want to make sure that we put that strap between the spokes of the bike so it doesnt Of the wheel, excuse me so it doesnt damage those. Up here we have a skewer holding in the fork up here.



Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat INA389

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat we're test fitting the Inno Tire Hold Roof-Mounted Bike Rack. The part number for that is INA389. Now if we look at the bike itself and how it's secured to the bike rack, we can see that we have these cradles down here holding the tire. We also have the tire holds that go across the top of the tire and secure it. Now the back tire is secured just about the same way, we've just got this locking mechanism here that's going to keep that tight against that bike rack and keep the front tire against there. I'm just going to get a little bit of help getting our bike down. Thank you. Now before we put it in the stow position, we'll take a look at how it's secured to our cross bars.



Rhino Rack Road Warrior Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we are testing fitting the Rhino Rack Road Warrior Rooftop Bike Rack, Bike Carrier excuse me. The Part Number for that is: RBC036. Now as you can see we do already have our bike on the rack. We're going to show you how we secure the bike down and then also how we secure the carrier itself to the crossbars. So, if you take a look at the back, we have one single strap holding that wheel down. That's just going to secure that there in place. This is a fork mounted, we have a skewer here holding forks in place. We just pull up on the black handle, turn to the left to loosen and turn to the right to tighten, and that just snaps right back into place. To take bike our off, we'll first start by taking the strap here off, just slides right through when you push the back lever.

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat we're test fitting the Inno Slim fork roof mounted bike carrier. The part number for that is INA387. We already have our bike on our carrier. We're going to show you how we secure the bike down. Then I'll show how we secure the carrier to the crossbars installs. The back wheel here, we have a wheel hold here.



Thule Domestique Roof Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be test fitting the Thule Domestique roof-mounted bike carrier, part number TH513. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply place the carrier onto the vehicle's cross bars. We'll then remove the skewer at the head of the carrier to access the Allen bolts. We'll then loosen up the Allen bolts to bring that bracket around the front cross bar. We'll then reinsert the Allen bolts into the threads and tighten them down, securing the head of the carrier to the front cross bar. We will then replace the skewer once the head of the carrier is tightened down.



RockyMounts TieRod Roof Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be test fitting the RockyMounts TieRod roof-mounted bike carrier, part number RKY1014. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply place the carrier onto the vehicle's cross bars. We'll then remove the front black plastic cap at the head of the carrier to allow us to bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the front cross bar. You may need to loosen up the silver bolt to give you enough slack to bring them around to hook them into the head of the carrier. Once they're hooked into position, we can use the Allen key to tighten down the silver bolt, securing the straps to the front cross bar. We can then replace the front black plastic cap at the head of the carrier.



RockyMounts TieRod Stretch Roof Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the RockyMounts Tie Rod Stretch Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number RKY1011. To begin our test fit, well simply place the carrier onto the vehicles crossbars. Well then remove the black plastic cap to allow us to bring the rubber coated steel straps around the underside of the front crossbar and hook them back into the head of the carrier. Now you may need to loosen up the silver bolt to give you enough strap to come around the front crossbar. Well then use the Allen key to tighten down the straps to secure the front of the carrier to the front crossbar. Well then replace the front black plastic cap and move to the rear of the carrier. Well loosen up the Allen bolts to bring the black bracket around the rear crossbar.



Thule Domestique Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2012 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Thule Domestique Fork Mount Bike Carrier, part number TH513. To being our test fit, well set the carrier on top of the crossbars; well secure the front of the carrier using the backplate underneath the crossbar and tighten it down using the Allen key. Youre going to need to take out the skewer in order to access the front two Allen bolts. Once you get that tightened down you can insert the skewer and then move to the rear of the carrier where you can swing the bracket underneath the rear crossbar and then tighten it down using the Allen Key. It is important to get the bike carrier perpendicular to the crossbars, so you can get a good solid fit to the crossbars. Once we get the carrier tightened down, were ready to load our bike.



Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Volkswagen Passat

Today we're working with a 2012 Volkswagen Passat and we're going to be test fittingthe Yakima FrontLoader Roof-Mounted Bike Carrier, part number Y02103. We've already got our carrier put together and now we're ready to mount it up on ourvehicle. We'll take the carrier and lay it up on top of our crossbars. We'll fit the frontclamping head around our front crossbar and use the hand knob to tighten it down,and then we'll move to the rear and fit the rear clamp around the rear bar, using the T-bolt and wing nut to tighten it down. Now we're ready to load up a bike. We need tomake sure that the front wheel hoop is all the way up and open.



Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2012 Volkswagen Passat

Today we've got a 2012 Volkswagen Passat and we're going to be test fitting theYakima ForkLift Roof-mounted Bike Carrier, part number Y02098. We've already got our carrier put together and we're ready to mount it up on ourvehicle. We'll take it and lay it up on top of our crossbars. We'll fit the clamp at thehead of our bike rack around the front crossbar, then we'll use the T-bolt and wing nutto tighten it down. Then we can reinstall our skewer. We'll move to the back and fitthe rear clamp around the rear bar, again using a T-bolt and wing nut to tighten itdown.



Thule Roof Bike Racks Review - 2007 Volkswagen Passat

Today our 2007 Volkswagen Passat well be doing a test fit of the Thule sprint T-Track roof mounted bike rack thats part number TH569. This is designed to slide right into your T-channel of your Thule AeroBlade. As you can see Ive already got the Thule AeroBlade installed on my Passat here today. Normally you would measure out and cut your rubber strips to where you want your bike racks so it would just set wherever you would place it and its good. For todays demonstration were going to go ahead and take those rubber straps off so we can show you how it works. Well just simply remove our end caps, set those aside for now. All rights so what well do is well start by bringing our rear strap or rear not our rear strap but our rear clamp or our rear T and place slide that on first that way you can adjust it to match up our front.



Kuat TRIO Roof Bike Racks Review - 2007 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2007 Volkswagen Passat, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Kuat Trio roof-mounted bike rack, and that's going to be part number TR02. We've already got our load bars installed on our vehicle here today. Let's go ahead and begin our test fit by setting it on top. We want to make sure to line up this portion here. We'll set it on our load bar like I did there. We'll worry about the rear clamp here later.



Thule Sprint Roof Bike Racks Review - 2007 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2007 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule Sprint roof mounted bike rack. That's part number TH528. I've already got the Thule aero blade Rapid Traverse roof rack system already installed in our vehicle here today. We can go ahead and begin our test fit by removing these, undoing these straps underneath here. We're going to put that on our load bar, make sure the strap goes underneath and then same thing with this one here. All right.
