On your SuperGlide Auto sliding 5th wheel hitch you must always have a capture plate with any 5th wheel pin box.
The Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550035 will allow you to use most normal 5th wheel hitches that use a pin box that measures between 12" and 14" wide. Locking plates are only required for cushioned and other specialty pin boxes that do not fall into the 12"-14" pin box width. view full answer...

The Reese Goose Box and a Flex Air pin box serve 2 different functions. So if you have a 5th wheel trailer that you want to tow with a gooseneck trailer hitch you would use a Goose Box (more on that later). If you have a 5th wheel trailer hitch then you would use the Flex Air. Both are cushioned and have shocks so I would not give the advantage to either one.
If your truck has a gooseneck hitch and you need to tow a 5th wheel trailer the Reese Goose Box is the best option. But they only... view full answer...
The stock Lippert 1621 pin box and air-ride pin boxes have some differences.
For example, the Lippert 1621 5th wheel pin box # LC1191191 is a direct replacement for a worn out pin box. Whereas the Fifth Gear 5th wheel air ride coupler # RP78FR will have cushioned shocks with an adjustable air spring and shock absorber. Therefore, reducing longitudinal shock or chucking by nearly 60 percent and decreasing vertical shock by 44 percent.
I included a video review about the Fifth Gear 5th... view full answer...

The Lippert Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box, # LC328492, and the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box, # LC158778 will both replace the Lippert 1621 pin box. Both use air spring shocks to provide for a smoother ride.
The big difference between the two pin boxes will be in the towing capacity and how the hitch head is designed.
The Flex Air pin box, # LC328492, has a 18K towing capacity and uses a pivoting hitch head. The pivoting head will help limit 5th wheel chucking. The head will... view full answer...
The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 and 1621 HD - 18,000 lbs - 3.5K TW # 325-GH-8040 weighs 125-lbs. However, after speaking with the tech and warranty department over at Lippert, the Gen-Y pin boxes are not "endorsed" for use on a Lippert chassis. I don't recommend this for a new coach with the warranty still in tact for that reason.
If you wanted to replace your Lippert 1621 pin box with a pin box that would give you an upgraded ride quality then I recommend... view full answer...
First, on the Goose Box, # RP94716-61301, for Lippert 1716 pin boxes it measures 17-3/4 inches from the center of the king pin to the center of the nearest row of bolt holes. And on the 5th Airborne pin box, # 5AB-E510-710, it measure 18-3/4 inches.
The Goose Box is approved for use by Lippert for 5th wheel trailers that have a Lippert frame. It is an excellent option that won't require putting in and taking out a heavy 5th wheel hitch to switch from towing a 5th wheel trailer to a gooseneck... view full answer...
The difference between the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 - 18,000 lbs # LC328492 and the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 - 21,000 lbs # LC369535 is only in the weight capacity. The air spring and shocks are the same on the unit designed for 21,000 lbs, so just the mounts on the trailer and the pin box itself is stronger. The Lippert 1621 pin box allows for either weight, so I recommend the one that is most compatible with the trailer GVWR. Either... view full answer...
I believe you are referring to the Trailair Flex Air and Air Ride pin boxes that replace Lippert 1621, 1621HD standard pin boxes, and there are some slight differences in both length and height.
The Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC369535 measures 29-9/16" from the center of the king pin to the rear of the pin box, and 19-9/16" from the bottom of the king pin to the top of the pin box.
The Curt Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC158778 isn't quite as long or as tall, measuring 28-11/16"... view full answer...
The two Lippert Trailair 5th wheel pin boxes LC155933 and # LC158777 are actually one and the same part. The old part number LC155933 has been replaced by the new item reference # LC158777. This air cushioned pin box is a direct bolt-on replacement for the Lippert 1716 5th-wheel pin box and it is rated for 21,000-lbs.
The Trailair will reduce chucking, bounce and jarring thanks to its internal air spring and shock system which absorbs these forces to give you a smoother and more stable ride. view full answer...

If your trailer gross weight is under 18,000 lbs you might consider the TrailAir Flex Air, part # LC328492.
The TrailAir pin box you were reviewing, part # LC158778, is a 21,000 lb-rated replacement for a Lippert 1621 pin box. The comparable item from 5th Airborne is part # 5AB-E1621-610; this is also a replacement for the Lippert 1621 and is also rated at 21,000 lbs capacity. (But again please note that the TrailAir is not for use with any type of gooseneck adapter.)

The only difference they have is there is a slight dimensional difference between the exterior bushing width measurements. LC158778 is 14-13/16" and LC369535 is 16-1/4".

The Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC369535 which is rated for 21,000 lbs is constructed of a thicker metal and also has beefier welds when compared to the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC328492 which is rated for 18,000 lbs. The air bag and shock that is used in each of them are the same. The thicker metal and welds are what gives the former a higher weight capacity. The 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler, # RP61422, is the premium air ride pin box that would be equivalent to the Trailair pin box, # LC158778, for replacement of a Lippert 1621 pin box.
We have carried the Fifth Airborne air ride couplers and for some time and our customers are very pleased with them, sending excellent reviews and we have encountered very few problems with this system.

For your Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin boxes there is no advantage or disadvantage between the 18,000lb product # LC328492 and 21,000lb product # LC158778. As long as the pin box is rated as high or higher than the trailer's GVWR you'll be good to go. I would recommend sticking closer to the actual weight capacity of your camper unless you plan on sizing up in the future to a heavier camper. view full answer...
In a battle of Convert-A-Ball vs Reese Goose Box, in my opinion the Reese Goose Box wins hands down.
The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter, # RP94622, replaces the pin box on a trailer and is equipped with a fully enclosed air bag and dual shock absorbers to provide cushion and absorb road shock. This is also the only adapter that is endorsed by Lippert Components Inc. and will not void the warranty on their trailer frames.

Using any adapter to tow your fifth wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch can create more torque and create a rougher ride like you said you are experiencing. While replacing your pin box with a 5th Airborne would eliminate a lot of the chucking you have, you would also be adding another component like the Companion, part # BWRVK3500. I have attached a link to our page for replacement fifth wheel pin boxes you can check out. Choosing the correct one depends on the pin box you have on your... view full answer...

Starting with the best we have the Goose Box from Reese. The Goose Box will replace the existing pin box on the trailer with one that has a gooseneck coupler on it rather than a king pin. The Goose Box adapters will only fit on certain model pin boxes. Goose Box # RP85FR fits Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD and Fabex PB-600... view full answer...
