Hello Tony. I looked over the owners manual for a 2009 Smart ForTwo, and they do state that the recommended towing method is that the vehicle be transported with all wheels off the ground using a flatbed car trailer. If this method is not available, the vehicle may be towed with all wheels on the ground using a tow bar connected to another vehicle. The owners manual does not mention that the automatic transmission being an exclusion, so based on this I have to assume it can be safely towed... view full answer...
Hey Brian,
The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter with 2" or 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 weighs approximately 25.7lbs so it's pretty lightweight compared to most other adapters. Are you trying to haul your bike rack while towing your Smart fortwo? If so, the receiver tubes of this adapter are slightly rounded and won't accept a shank with sharply squared corners so you'll want to doublecheck your accessories first. view full answer...
Hi Kevin,
So Lippert actually discontinued the lift assist steps, and there isn't a similar option for this size of quad step that does have a lift assist, I'm sorry to say. The best we can offer is the non-lift assist option, which is the Lippert SolidStep RV Steps for 29" to 36" Wide Doorways # LC791575.
I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but I wanted to at least give you the option just in case. view full answer...
Hey Tom, welcome back! The etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar item # e47ZR uses 9/64" hex bolts to hold on the safety cables. To replace yours with longer ones, I recommend the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs Item # RM-643. These will be 14" longer and any excess will coil up to prevent dragging.
If you have any additional questions, go ahead and throw them into the comment box below and I'll be happy to help you. view full answer...
Hi Keith,
Yep, the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit # 52285-1 on your 2014 Smart Fortwo is 100% compatible with the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar # RM-020.
That said, the Tracker # RM-020 does require the use of the crossbar, as does any tow bar with those specific base plates. The arms on the base plates unfortunately don't have a way to use direct-connect tow bars. view full answer...
Hey Michael, we can definitely help get you setup with everything you will need to flat tow your 2015 Smart fortwo but at this time we don't have a single part number that includes everything to make it super simple. We've talked about trying to come up with something like that but it just hasn't happened yet. So I'll list everything out you'll need as simply as possible and you can just hit add to cart from this page or click on the links to go to each page:
