Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're going to take a look at this Van Windows Direct Overlander awning window. Now, this awning window is for camper vans where you're going to want airflow, shade, and privacy, all in one opening. This has a nice black aluminum frame, which will match other van trim. Give you a nice factory-style exterior look. Measurement on this window, measures 41-5/16 inches long.

Height of it, 16-5/16 inches tall. And it fits a cutout dimension of 40 inches by 15 inches. So what's nice with this unit, it's instead of adding separate screens and blackout panels, this will combine the two-stage awning vent with this integrated mesh screen and pleated shade that's on the inside. I am going to demonstrate each of these individually to show you how they operate. So we're going to start with the window that's on the outside.

So this part, I'm just going to move aside. Now, this window will sit at eye level from the outside, creates a nice, direct view into your living area. And if you notice, the glass has a 17% gray tint on it. So that's going to limit how much someone can see inside while you're still allowing visibility from the inside to look at the outside. This will also block 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of the glass.

And we mentioned it's a two-stage awning opening, so it's going to let you choose a partial opening or a full opening for airflow. The upward tilting panel here is going to allow ventilation without letting any water fall directly inside. And just to demonstrate how it opens or to show you what it's going to look like on the inside, you're going to see there's four latches here that you'll have to unlock. So, there's two on the bottom. Just unlock those.

And then by each strut there, there's one you'll release there, and one you'll release here. You can see now your window is open. So what's nice about it, after you release those latches, you just push outward until you hear the strut click. And after about four inches, you'll hear it click, and you let it go, and it'll hold it in that four-inch opening. So that's going to allow some gentle air flow to go in and out of your van. And then if you want more, just push it outward again. And then you hear it click again, and you can let it go at that click. And then that's going to give you about 12 inches of opening. So it gives you a maximum ventilation. And then to close it, all you have to do is lift up all the way. And when you do that, it'll completely close, and you can lock it close. So depending on what position, you just pull it until it clicks and let it go. And then to secure it again, just take your latches, close those, close the two on the side, and it's all secure. Now, the interior panel, let me just move this one aside, we'll talk about the interior panel, which is pretty unique. So again, it has a nice black frame, but the interior panel is going to include a mesh screen and a pleated shade. You can run the screen alone. So right at the bottom here, if you pull up on it, and if you pull it up all the way, you can see there's a mesh screen. Gives you airflow, keeps any of the bugs out. And then if you wanted the pleated shade, you can actually pull this down, all the way that way. And now you got a pleated shade. That's going to close the shade, give you privacy. You can use both together. You can see how they're magnetically connected. You can open it a little bit if you want. Or if you want to separate them, just pull down on one, separate it, and then use the screen completely, or the shade. Gives you a nice unobstructed opening. To install this, it is a clamp ring installation. Creates a nice weather-tight seal around the cutout. The clamp ring will sandwich the van wall between the interior and the exterior frame to secure your window. Now, this item itself can be installed by an experienced DIYer, but because it involves cutting into your van, we highly recommend using a professional dealer that has the knowledge of window installation.
