Hello, neighbors and friends. Steve here with etrailer.com. Folks, today we're taking a look at the Icon trailer coupler lock for rolled lip, 2 5/16 inch ball couplers. And this guy is made of a hardened cast steel and also stainless steel on the lock core and everything itself. So getting into it, folks. 22 pounds of hardened steel and just upfront a visual, "Hey, I don't wanna mess with this trailer," right So this will lock down your trailer coupler, help deter visually tow-away theft, and also keep others from hooking up to your trailer.
Now this is specifically made for Atwood ball style couplers with rolled lips. We carry this same brand and kind of style, if you will, for every coupler out there that we offer. So if you need a different style and this particular one is not it, check the website for other options. But again, this one is made for the rolled bottom lip couplers. Now it is constructed again, of a nice hardened cast steel.
All the fins and everything here have been e-coated and then also powder-coated black over the top. That's gonna help resist chipping, scratching, wear and tear and it's just gonna give you a better overall product for the lifetime. As you can see, again, no one's gonna want to cut in here even with. You know, nowadays, everyone's got badder ass tools and stuff. The hardened steel is just gonna eat through their blades and those kind of things so you can rest assured no one's gonna get in this.
So how do you use it Well, you simply twist off the stainless steel cap. (cap tapping) That's a solid piece. It's got an O-ring in here right by the thread that's gonna keep water, debris, moisture out of the lock area. Next thing, you got four keys that come with it. They're heavy keys, they're weighted, and when I say weighted, man, they're thick and heavy.
They are a half-moon shape or a half circle, however you want to describe it. And they've only been cut on one side. Number one, that makes them easier to pick the lock. And number two, it's gonna be a lot harder to get someone to duplicate these keys. So you simply unlock it and then you can push and pull the pin up or down as needed. Lock it onto the coupler, put the stainless steel cap back on, thread it all the way down tight as you want, and then no one's gonna know where the hidden key insert is as well. So that's another visual kind of deterrent if you will. Like I said, 22 pounds, limited lifetime warranty from Icon. You're gonna get four keys and again, this is gonna be a great option for locking your trailer coupler. Well folks, I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching. I hope this information's been helpful. This has been our look at the Icon trailer cup lock for rolled lip 2 5/16 ball couplers. Have a good one.
I’ve seen a lot of trailer locks that look strong on the outside but don’t hold up once a grinder hits them. When Altor came by with their ICON lock, I was pretty skeptical at first. They actually cut through a very popular coupler lock with an angle grinder right here in our shop. I will not say which brand, but you can check out my video. Then they showed how the ICON held up under the same abuse. The thick cast steel and fin design force a grinder to chew through layer after layer before it ever reaches the core. The lock face is designed to spin under a drill bit, which just burns out the bit instead of giving access. The keys are unique enough that you cannot simply have extras cut at the hardware store, and the stainless body with its weather sealed cap means it will not corrode when your trailer sits outside. All in all, it feels like a big step above the usual coupler locks, and considering the value of what most of us haul, the extra protection is worth it.
If you’ve got a pop-up or classic camper with an Atwood rolled-lip coupler, the ICON AL93DQ lock is a smart way to keep it from disappearing. Older trailers are tough to replace, and thieves look for easy hook-ups. I like how this lock’s heavy cast-steel body, hidden keyway, and weather-sealed cap make it tough to cut, pick, or jam, even if the trailer sits outside for months. For anyone protecting a vintage camper or pop-up, it’s the kind of security that helps you enjoy the trip instead of worrying about theft.
