Features to know about

Built for Serious Hauling: Load Range E with 87-mph Speed Rating

When you’re towing heavy gear or running long miles, you want a setup that holds steady. This Kenda Karrier KR53 ST235/80R16 radial tire delivers a 3,520-lb maximum load at 85 psi and carries an N speed rating of 87 mph. It’s matched to a 16" x 6" steel wheel rated for 3,750 lbs, so you get capacity and speed confidence in one DOT-compliant package.

Fights Corrosion and Lasts Longer: Silver Powder-Coated Steel Wheel

Moisture and road salt can eat away at wheels fast, but this modular steel wheel is built to resist it. A 2-step finish process—an e-coat primer topped with a silver powder coat—keeps corrosion in check and the surface looking clean season after season.

Runs Cooler and Grips Better: Radial Construction with Premium Rubber Compound

The KR53’s computer-optimized tread and high-grade rubber compound give it reliable traction on wet or dry pavement while helping it run cooler during long hauls. The radial design keeps rolling resistance low and sidewalls flexible, improving fuel economy and handling on extended trips.

Ready to Roll with Confidence: Complete Tire-and-Wheel Assembly

This tire comes pre-mounted on the wheel, already balanced and meeting Department of Transportation specs. It’s built specifically for trailers, not passenger vehicles, so every detail—from the 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern to the 4.90" pilot diameter—is tailored for proper load support and fitment right out of the box.

Peace of Mind Built In: 1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

Even tough tires can take damage, but Kenda backs this one with a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If it’s damaged in any way within the first 12 months, it gets replaced at no charge, plus you get a limited 2-year warranty on the wheel itself.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for Review of Kenda Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - KE82EV

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at our Kenda Karrier ST235-80R16 radial tire. Now, this is a trailer tire. It's going to have a 16-inch silver mod wheel, and an 8 on 6-1/2-inch lug pattern. Now, because this is a trailer tire wheel assembly, it's going to be ideal for just that, trailers, utility trailers, campers. Never try to use a trailer tire on a vehicle of any kind, they're just not rated for that kind of thing.

Now, this whole assembly does meet all DOT specifications. It has a nice steel wheel here that you can see. And if this uses what they call their modular design, that's these round holes that go all the way around the wheel here. And once again, it's an 8-lug on 6-1/2-inch lug pattern. Now, what they've done here is made this really corrosion-resistant with their two-step finishing process, which includes an e-coat primer over this silver powder coat finish.

Now, the Kenda Karrier KR53 special trailer tire itself, it's a radial tire, it's low-weight, it's going to provide better fuel economy on those long trips. Now, this has been created specifically for trailers, as I mentioned, so it's going to be great as far as the durability, they've made the sidewalls to be engineered for enhanced durability. They're going to be resistant to ozone exposure, so those sun rays and stuff when they're parked. And they also use a computer-optimized wide tread design, as you can see here, and also a premium rubber compound makeup of everything. So, that means you're going to have superior traction in wet or dry conditions.

Now, I went over the bolt pattern and all that. The stud size or the wheel hole size here, it can be either 1/2-inch or 9/16-inch. You can use either or. Now, the wheel capacity itself is 3,750 pounds. The pilot hole diameter here is 4.90 inches.

So if you're going to put a center cap in here, it needs to be a 4.90. The wheel itself is a 16-inch wide, and that's BT to BT. Or diameter rather. BT to BT, and 6-inch wide. Now, the section width of the tire itself is 9 inches. And the overall diameter here is 30.6 inches. It is a load range E, or just meaning a 10-ply tire. And the speed rating is N, and that means 87 miles per hour max. So, as all of us know, follow those speed limits out there, stay safe, especially when you're towing. Make sure you're not doing anything crazy. The number one failure for tires is excessive heat. So when you're going too fast, these tires and stuff just can't take that excessive heat. So please, be safe out there at all times. Now, finishing up here, folks, the maximum load capacity on this whole component with it mounted on the wheel here is 3,520 pounds at a max 85 psi. Well, folks, that's going to wrap up for our look together. This again is the Kenda Karrier KR53. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

Excellent quality, unbeatable price. Have had on my heavily used horse trailer for a year now. Had regular flats & low air with my old gnarly wheels before. No problems with these.

This may be the first review I've ever written, but the service I received deserves recognition. I couldn't be happier with the customer support. Every question I had was answered promptly and thoroughly, and I was always told exactly what to expect. After each conversation, I immediately received an email with the products I had inquired about or ordered, making the process incredibly easy.
I ordered new tires, electric brakes, brake drums, and mirror extensions, and every item was exactly what I needed. It's rare to find a company that does exactly what they say they will do, follows through without any issues, and provides this level of customer service. To make things even better, I received my order the very next day.
Outstanding service from start to finish. Because of this experience, they will be my first call for any future RV or trailer needs. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for knowledgeable staff, great communication, and fast, reliable service.

The Kenda Karrier KR53 with the 15" black mod wheel is a great all-around trailer tire and wheel combo. The radial tire offers a smooth, stable ride even under heavy loads, and the tread holds up well on both highway and gravel. It handles heat and long-distance hauling with confidence, showing minimal wear after months of use. The 5 on 5 bolt pattern fit perfectly on my trailer, and installation was quick. The black mod wheel looks sharp and adds a clean, rugged finish to the setup. Whether you’re upgrading or replacing, this combo offers strong value, good performance, and peace of mind on the road. Highly recommended for utility, landscape, or cargo trailers.
