The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics Glow Light, M1LED Clearance or Side-Marker light. Normal trailer light with the smooth, bright outer band is going to serve as either a side-marker light or a clearance light. It's going to feature a sonically sealed design. It's got the waterproof housing and lens in it that is submersible. It is an LED system. LEDs are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights.
They last longer. They burn brighter. They're much more efficient. You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. This is going to contain an amber lens.
It's going to have a poly carbonate lens and housing when comes to the construction of those components. A very strong and durable design. It is a surface mount installation. It does require a hole at the mounting surface for the wiring to go through. Your mounting hardware is not included, but it's got a two mount hole design, one on each end of the housing here of the light. It's also going to feature your two wire pigtail.
It's going to provide your power and ground wires. It's going to have the 0.18 male bullets on the ends. If you want to hard wire this, those can be cut off. Then you can expose the wiring for hard wire applications. Another thing I want to mention is that there is a chrome bezel or trim ring that goes over the light to give it a nice finished look. It hides the mounting hardware.
That is sold separately. It can be found at etrailer.com with part number 00212317B. This is a P2 rated light. It's SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. We're going to take a look at some of the dimension really quick. Then we'll be able to hook it up to power so you can see it with power running to it, and in a low light condition. Overall length of the light, measuring from end to end is going to be about 6 3/8 of an inch. This right here measures about 2 inches. If we take a measurement of the depth, from the back of the housing to the outermost point of the light, we're looking at a depth of about 3/4 of an inch. If we measure back to the wiring, this area right here, that's going to give us an overall depth of about 1 inch. The mount holes on the unit, these are going to be separated on center apart from one another by 4 5/8 of an inch. The light itself, that's going to give us a measurement going this direction of about 1 11/16 of an inch. Then the light itself gives us a length measurement of about 4 1/4 inches. It's going to contain 13 diodes, or LEDs. It's going to have a power drawl at 12.8 volts of 0.12 amps. Let's go ahead and hook it up to our external power source that we can see what it looks like with some power running to it. You can see hear that the light sends out a really nice clear, consistent signal. It's going to feature that smooth, bright outer band. This light does serve as either a side-marker light or clearance light. The multi-diode design, again it's got 13 diodes or LEDs, that really helps optimize the light output for a nice clear, consistent signal. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics Glow Light M1LED Clearance or Side-Marker Light.
