When you’re loading up gear or need quick bed access, it’s nice to not climb over the rails or wrestle with panels. The UltraGroove opens and closes in less than 30 seconds with a key fob remote. The electro-magnetic brake locks it at any point along the rails, so you can leave part of the bed open for taller cargo. Even if power is lost, there’s a manual release lever in the canister so you can still operate it by hand.

If you haul bikes, kayaks, or ladders, the built-in T-slots make this cover a great base for a rack system. The rails run the full length of the bed and work with popular rack setups like Yakima or Pace Edwards’ own EL200. You can carry gear above the bed while keeping everything under the cover locked up and dry. It’s an easy way to turn the truck into a multi-use setup without taking anything off.

Rain, wash water, or snowmelt don’t stay long with this cover’s drainage system. Channels in the side rails route water into front and rear drain tubes that exit through factory bed holes. Wide exterior seals sit tight against the bed caps, and inner seals add another layer of protection against dust and water. The aluminum panels interlock with silicone weather hinges that hold up through heat and cold without cracking or shrinking.

Each panel is made from black powder-coated aluminum that resists corrosion and heat buildup. The panels don’t sag or warp in the sun, and they’re tough enough to handle daily use without flexing. The matte finish keeps glare down and looks clean on any truck. Reviewers have noted the surface gets warm in direct sun but stays solid year after year with no fading or peeling.

The UltraGroove sits about an inch above the bed rails for a flush, streamlined look that doesn’t block your rear window. The canister’s angled design keeps as much usable bed space as possible while still protecting the retracted cover from debris. Installation is clamp-on—no drilling needed—and includes self-leveling kickstands at the tailgate end to keep both rails even for a perfect seal.

Hello, neighbors. It is Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the line of retractable hard Tonneau covers. Now, these are from Pace Edwards, and they're a great option because they are electric. So that means that you can open and close your Tonneau cover at the push of a button. Now, these are available for a bunch of different configurations, so you're gonna wanna make sure to use our fit guide to make sure you're getting the proper one for your truck. And in about 30 seconds, you can have your Tonneau cover completely open and ready to load.
Now, I've installed some hard Tonneau covers before on other trucks here, and one of the ones that I really like is the BAKFlip MX. And it really allows you to open it up, and still have that hard tunnel cover. but the way that it folds up, it trifolds back and when you have it in a stored position, it locks all of your visibility. And so your cameras aren't gonna work. And it does work fine, it does its job, but I like the fact that when this is retracted, it's in the canister, so you maintain all of your visibility.
Now there is a trade off to having this style of retractable and that's obviously, you have about a foot and a half that you lose on the top portion. But this little angle design, as well as having this bottom part open means that you're still able to store things underneath. So if you still have some two by fours that you wanna load in your bed, you'll be able to slide those in with no problem. Because this is a powered Tonneau cover, you obviously have to get that source of power from 12-volt source. If wiring is not your strong suit, not to worry, this is super easy.
You already have your fuse holder installed in the harness, and then you just simply run your red wire to your positive black wire to the negative, and you're good to go. Now when people get Tonneau cover on their truck, a lot of times they're worried about losing some of the usability of their bed because you are covering up the steak pockets. I could see where you might be concerned, but that's not the case here. And this really stands out compared to other Tonneau covers because there is a T track, and this is compatible with Pace Edwards, not only roof racks but ladder racks. So if you use this for work, you're still able to get your accessories loaded on, and still be able to open and close the Tonneau cover.
So you get the best of both worlds. Now when installing, it comes with brackets that slide into grooves here so you get a nice solid fit without having to drill holes into your bed, you'll simply clamp this down, and it's really holds it in place really well. It also has this kickstand here for stability. So even as it opens and closes, it's gonna hold form. It's not gonna bind up. There's also seals along the entire thing to keep it watertight. So you have 'em on the inside for a nice smooth running feature of the Tonneau cover, but also on the outside to get that watertight seal. And if water does get in your T track, not to worry, it's all gonna feed down to this drain tube, and you have one on both sides. So it drains here, and the canister also has drain tubes. So not to worry, you're not gonna have water building up in your Tonneau cover. And once you're hooked up to power, and everything's installed, you're able to operate this to cover at the push of a button. You get two key fobs, and I already have batteries installed so you're ready to go, and all you have to do push the button, wait 30 seconds and then it's gonna be closed. (cover closing) Now once closed, you'll see against our tailgate, we also have those seals continuing, creating that watertight seal. So it's gonna keep everything protected. And speaking of keeping protected, once you lock your truck up, no one's gonna be able to open up your tailgate, and there's no way to actually open this up without the key fob. Now, not to worry as the owner if the batteries die, and you don't have your spare on you, there's two other options as well. There is an available module that you can add in that you can use an app on your phone to open and close. There's also a manual release in that way. If you are stuck without any of those, you can still open and close your Tonneau cover. When installed, it has a nice clean look to it, and I really like the way this one sits on this truck because it's only about an inch higher than the bedrail. So some of your other ton covers stick up, and I'm not really a fan of how that looks. This one has a really good look. It also has that matte black powder coat finish on the aluminum, so it's gonna keep it protected and also it's gonna be rust-proof, so that's really nice. Long-term, this is gonna be a Tonneau cover once it's installed. You're really gonna have a great look, but also functionality throughout its lifespan. There's also just a few subtle differences that I've seen from other Tonneau covers, and you can see that this contours with the outside edge of the bed, and overall the fit and finish of this kit is really good. I'm really happy with how it all went together. And they give you included tools to make sure that you're getting the proper gap. So they really set you up for success. when installing your Tonneau cover. So if you're looking to protect the contents of your vehicle, not only from weather but also from theft, I think this is one of the best options out there just because of the fit and finish, and the overall look, the storage, there's a lot of things that this one checks the boxes on that I really like. Now, these are available for a bunch of different configurations. So you're gonna wanna make sure to use our fit guide to make sure you're getting the proper one for your truck.

Excellent quality. Great service and fast delivery
Had this for about a year and its doing well. Pretty good keeping the water out. I would buy it again.
Fast shipping and delivery
I have tried them all.
Trifolds....accordians...to full on toppers.
I will not be looking anymore. It provides the security that I need and the convenience with the electric rolltop.
Still looks mint a year later.
Installed wiring for cover (power and switch) first and then installed the cover .
etrailers videos were great
Solid cover and easy to install.
Great communication and shipping
This product exceeded my expectation! I installed it on a 2019 F450 limited and the only modifications required to the truck was to drill (2) 5/8” holes in the bed plug covers (4L3Z-99277B76-AA) to allow the drain tubes to exit the bed of the truck. The rail mounts did require me to remove (drill out) all the shims to get the required width for the cover. Thanks to both etrailer and Pace-Edwards customer support for answering questions about removing the shims.
The online instructions I downloaded from etrailer did not contain the correct installation widths for this Item, however the instructions shipped from Pace-Edwards were spot on.
Imstalled to exact specifications, and the slide drags midway throthe cycle. Measurements are exact from front to back. I used the lubrication before first operation as well. Considering using a light, low temp grease to see if it will loosen up...
Not very impressed.
The Pace-Edwards tonneau cover works very well. I sprayed lithium grease in the track and it worked great. It was a challenge to install by myself but it turned out nice.
The Pace Edward’s UltraGroove retractable hard Tonneau cover works well. Really liked the installation video.
Easy to install, secure when closed and tailgate is locked, looks great. Very convenient, push a button and it opens, push it again and it closes. It can be stopped in any position which is great for a fifth wheel
I just got it installed and it works perfectly, I can’t believe I have gone this long without it!
Very easy to install,v just make sure you have a partner to help pick it up and get it into the bed. aside from that it took no time at all to wire it up and start using it. Looks great and very sturdy.
Works great, installation instructions not great but the video on the website was amazing and was in great detail. The key fobs are little bigger then I like but the system it self is great and works well
I have enjoyed the cover but the powder coating has come off of one of the aluminum rails and I never recieved the correct end cap for one of the rails
I installed the pace Edwards powered ultra groove cover on an 2024 2500HD truck. The cover has been on for about a year. Overall the cover is very nice and I like the ability of being able to have the top partially open. I also have used it with my Yakima overhaul truck rack to haul kayaks and bikes. Putting the rack onto the ultragrroove was very easy and works excellent. It’s so nice having a powered cover with the rack onto! It’s very nice to not need to reach over the side rails to open/close. I have the Bluetooth option and that works very well and that is my primary choice of operation.
The cover was pretty easy to install and the videos were helpful. if you have an electric lift tailgate make sure to keep the overlap of the cover on the tailgate to a minimum or the power tailgate may not self close if the cover seal interacts too heavily with tailgate top
A few things that I found; As the manufacturer states it’s not water proof and I get a little water in from around the cover seals and the canister box. But the majority of the water seems to come in from all the openings in the bed and gaps on the tailgate. In the sun the black cover absorbs a LOT of heat and the temperature in the bed get quite high. Be aware of this on a sunny day with anny temperature sensitive items or coolers placed in the bed. Be careful touching the black slats on an hot sunny day they are hot. The cover motor significantly slows down when closing and sounds like it may not be able to close but it does get there. Although the motor sounds week when closing, it is not and if you get any body part caught between the cover closing and the tailgate you will suffer some pain. I found this out when leaning over the tailgate to try and grab something out of the bed with the remote in my pocket. I leaned on the close button and got my arm pinched between the tailgate and the closing cover. I had some serious bruises. From what I have experienced there is nothing to reverse the motor if it becomes jammed or pinches something like an arm. Seems the motor current gets maxed out and the motor stops and the cover is locked there. I would prefer if there was some sort of safety here as I worry whenever my grand kids are helping me load something. Best advice is not to have the fob in someone’s pocket where it could unexpectedly get triggered.
One thing that has been a problem is the drains on the bottom of the canister box. These are used to drain water from the box. The drains are plastic fittings that twist and lock in the bottom of the box and have a semi ridged drain hose that goes to a hole in the bed. The issue is that any time you put a 2x4, a piece of plywood, or anything that fits under the canister box, it hits the tube or nipple and snaps it off.
I repaired and replaced these several times. I have now replaced them with a 90 degree barbed elbow on the bottom of the box and used a more flexible vinyl hose. Now the hose is much tighter to the box and tube is not getting hit every time something is put in the bed.

After a year I still really like the looks and the T slot functionality on this cover. I have a bad shoulder so the electric opening closing is an awesome feature as well. However this cover has not worked out as well as I hoped especially in the winter. The drains still get nocked off and leak water into the bed. I still have issues with the top not opening with no real explanation even after following the manufacturer directions on rebuilding the canister. The cover is warranted but for parts only and the mfg was good about sending parts and instructions. Once the weather s below freezing the cover will freeze and not operate until it warms up. This has been a huge issue as it defeats the purpose of this cover throughout the winter. We had snow yesterday and I swept the cover off and this morning the temp was 27 and the cover would not open. I had to crawl under it to get tools out. Although I really like the look and visibility out the back with this type of cover, I think it was a mistake for me.

Do you have a question about this Tonneau Cover?

Little fingers are definitely something to watch out for! Thanks for the word of caution. The cover looks great, too, by the way. Using it in conjunction with the rack is a great idea! Happy to hear you are overall pleased with the cover.
