Today we're going to do a quick look at the K Source replacement side mirror for the driver's side. This is going to be a really easy way to replace that OEM mirror on your vehicle if it got damaged or broken somewhere along the way. This is going to have the same footprint as that original mirror. It's pretty easy to install. You'll just need to pop off the old one, remove the hardware there. Typically there's going to be a little black cover that goes over the outside or inside.
You just pop off an then remove that hardware there, disconnect the wiring, and then we can mount up our new mirror the same way. Just pop that wiring in place, got a little keeper for the wiring to go in. Keeps that all nice and tidy.This is really nice since we don't have to splice or cut anything at all. It's just going to plug right in. There's no drilling required.
It just easily mounts in place. It comes with a gasket going around this outside edge so we know it's going to be a nice watertight seal, especially for all our electrical connections for any water that's going to get into our vehicle. Then as far as the mirror itself, this does have a heated mirror glass and the remote capability so you can control it from that little knob or dial in your vehicle to get it adjusted properly. Again, we'll have that heated glass option as well or that heated glass function as well. So we can get that defrosted on chilly mornings or evaporated any rain that might have clung to our mirror.Now one thing to note with that is that the remote power capability and the heated glass function, those only work if your vehicle we're already equipped with those features.
So if you didn't have the heated glass before, this isn't going to give you an upgrade. You can't really use that function if it doesn't already have the wiring in place. So just keep that in mind. It is a custom fit design for the 2012 through 2015 Honda CRV EX-L. So we'll have our same outer face here.
You can pop off this housing if you wanted to and have it painted alike with your vehicle. You just want to be sure to be careful whenever you do that that you don't get any paint on the mirror itself.The glass is an OE grade aspherical glass. So it's going to have first surface plating to reflect a clear true image. It has that nice reflective chrome so be highly reflective so we can see what's going on behind us. It does have a breakaway design so that mirror can fold in whenever we're in a close quarters situation like on a narrow street or pulling into a tight parking space or garage. This does just come with the single driver side mirror. If you need the passenger side, we also have that available here at etrailer.com. That part number is KS63043H. So you can pick that up to go with this one or if you only need the one, you can find that here. The passenger side view mirror for my 2002 Kia Sedona mini van arrived in perfect condition a day earlier than expected. I was concerned I could find a mirror for a vehicle 18 years old. The product was as advertised but I was more impressed with the service from etrailer.com. The supplier was a bit slow but the folks at etrailer.com kept me in the loop the entire way. It was very much appreciated as my wife was very anxious about not having the side mirror. The mirror fit and worked on the first try. Just one word of caution, there are no installation instructions with the mirror so you need to be comfortable taking a door panel off and doing the install. Kudos to Megan and the other staff that were so helpful!
My only issue is that I asked for the passenger side view mirror, for my 2012 Subaru Forrester. My vehicle, the side view mirrors also have lights on both, so oncoming drivers can get an additional signal, letting them know which way I am turning. The mirror sent does not have that. So now One mirror has it, and the other side does not. Great
