Need to haul your skis to the slopes but struggle with lifting gear onto your crossbars? We recommend the Rhino Rack ski carrier with lift assist. Gas-strut-powered arms drop down to just over shoulder level, making it easier than ever to load skis.

Let's face it, we're not all 6'5" and able to easily reach our vehicle's crossbars. We know the struggle is real, so we created this kit to make installing and loading your skis on your vehicle's roof rack easier. Forget climbing onto your running boards or using a step stool to reach your skis, simply pull a handle to lower the lift assist's arms to a much more manageable height and load them from there. You'll still have to do a little lifting, but since it's just over shoulder level it'll be much safer. All you have to do is apply a little pressure and the gas struts will gently lift your skis onto your roof.
And what's really cool about the UpLift is that, unlike most lift assists, it isn't limited to just carrying skis. You can also use it with bike racks, kayak carriers, or cargo boxes, making it a practical solution you can use all year round.
If you'd prefer to build your own ski rack and lift assist combo, the table below lists the racks we've vetted to work with the MOS Uplift lift assist. Additionally, if you want to add an accessory for another activity, we've also provided a list of bike racks, kayak carriers, fishing rod holders, and cargo boxes that will work with the Uplift.
To build your own kit just add the Uplift (MR39ZV) and the part numbers for your preferred accessories from the table below to your cart.

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we have the Lift Assisted Ski and Snowboard carrier. This is gonna be a kit with the Rhino Rack 3 ski and board carrier combined with the MOS Uplift from MOS Racks. So with this, you're able to carry up to three skis or two boards, but instead of having to reach up and onto your roof in order to load and unload your skis, you're able to bring it down a lot closer to you. This is gonna be helpful if, let's say you still have your snowboard boots on or your ski boots on, and you don't wanna be climbing up onto your vehicle while it's icy and while it's snowing. This means it makes it a lot easier for you to get and reach your skis without having to reach too high up.
We have this combined as a single kit with the Rhino Rack 3 but the MOS Uplift can work with your other accessories as well. Now, not every accessory is gonna work because the very specific requirements with how your accessory will clamp on or into the rack, so this is a sure fit for you. For this, you're able to carry up to three skis. If you do need to carry more, you are gonna have to double check your dimensions because this does have a maximum width capacity of 26 inches and a maximum weight capacity of 85 pounds. Now during the off season, if you wanna use this with your fishing rods, that's totally an option too.
This is a multipurpose carrier. I like this pairing because the Rhino Rack carrier is very straightforward. It comes with the T mount where it just slides into the channel of your Uplift, and it comes with a lock that you can lock your skis and boards up when you're out and about. And it also has this large button where even if you have, let's say your mittens or your gloves, you just hit that button and then the top pops up. But notice how that hinge takes up space behind the carrier.
And for that reason, not every ski and snowboard carrier fits the Uplift. Not only do you have to think about where it clamps down to the track, but you also have to think about the extra space that the hinge is going to take up and your longer carriers don't always fit before hitting or having clearance issues with the back of the Uplift. And that's another reason why the Rhino Rack 3 is a fit. And if you need to use this with your other accessories, let's say you need to carry on a bike or a kayak, you can still use your Uplift adapter base. Now I will show you the installation later on in this video for the Uplift, but this is what it'll look like if you're using it with a ski and snowboard carrier.
So you have your skis, your skis fit into those arms. You just close that top arm and it instantly latches into the carrier. Now from this point, you can either lock the carrier if you want to, but it'll work on its own without locking it. And now you just lift up on the Uplift, close those levers, and now you are ready to drive. Super simple, super easy, no climbing involved. For mounting your Uplift it all starts first with your vehicle and taking a look at your roof rack. If you don't yet have a roof rack, you can find one custom fit for your car here at etrailer.com. But right over here, the main thing we wanna know is that distance apart for the crossbar. So measure from one crossbar to the other center to center, and I have mine at 27 inches. So remember the number for your vehicle. Going over to your Uplift rack and this is already pretty assembled. We just need to make the adjustments for the vehicle and just follow your instructions for assembling it the first time because after that's gonna be very easy to remove as well as attach the Uplift rack. To help you out on top of the attaching crossbar, which you can slide back and forth, you have numbers. So these numbers are gonna be a ruler to help you line everything up. So remember how we said 27 inches Well, we'll line up that 27 inch line with the line on the Uplift, and then we'll tighten that down with this knob. You'll have these shims included and these will fit onto those bolts. And then your spacer block goes underneath that. So definitely take off the whole Uplift system if ever you need to make these adjustments. And up onto the bar. Where do you install your Uplift Well, for me, I always try to bring as far out as I can. Utilizing overhang is always helpful, but not every vehicle is gonna have a roof rack with a crossbar that sits out with overhang. The big example of that are gonna be Subarus with factory bars because those sit on the inside and most lift assists don't work with that because of that design. Fortunately with the Uplift, you can adjust the Uplift and then slide the clamp around to fit best on your roof rack. So if in doubt, just push the Uplift out, slide the clamp in to where it's still an opening, and that will give you some pretty good clearance. And then you're gonna attach the bottom bracket. So for the bracket, MOS does recommend following the symmetry of your roof rack 'cause you'll see that that bracket is angled. So for Aero bars like this, we're gonna fit it in and then we're gonna slide the bracket around so it fits into place. What I then like to do is pull the bracket so I know this end piece is fully secure as I tighten it down, with these wing knobs. This does have end caps included, but I did keep them off for this video so you can better see how the track system works. Now if you're planning on carrying a kayak with this, go ahead and put your rubber strips on. This is also what you would do if you're just leaving your MOS rack up without anything loaded. But if you are gonna be attaching something through the channels, then keep your rubber strips off so you'll be able to slide things through. This right here was a look at the lift assisted ski and snowboard carrier with the MOS Uplift paired with the Rhino Rack 3 ski and snowboard carrier.
