Features to know about

Delivers Stable 48V Power for Sensitive Loads

Running 48V equipment straight from a battery or raw DC bus can cause voltage swings that lead to erratic operation under changing loads. This unit regulates output to a nominal 48.2V while accepting input from 32V to 70V, keeping power consistent across normal system variation. Equipment stays on and runs cleanly instead of dropping out or behaving unpredictably.

Designed for DC Loads Without Battery Charging

Using a charger where regulated equipment power is needed creates the wrong kind of voltage behavior for sensitive DC loads. This unit delivers adjustable output from 40V to 60V specifically for DC power applications and is not intended for battery charging. You get controlled output for connected equipment without introducing improper charging logic.

Isolated Design Prevents Electrical Interference

Shared grounds in more complex DC systems can introduce noise, ground loop issues, or unstable operation across connected equipment. The isolated design separates input and output sides so power delivery stays cleaner through the converter. Loads run more consistently where non-isolated systems can create interference or fault behavior.

Adjustable Output Matches System Requirements

Fixed-voltage converters can force you to work around the power supply instead of setting output where the equipment needs it. This unit gives you an output voltage adjustment range from 40V to 60V, so you can tune regulated power to the circuit. That keeps connected equipment operating at the intended voltage instead of being stuck with a single preset output.

Expandable Output With Parallel Operation

A single 8 amp converter works for lighter loads, but added equipment can outgrow that capacity fast. This unit supports parallel operation with short circuit proof design, allowing multiple units to increase total output current. You can scale the system without replacing the original converter.

Video Transcript for Review of Victron RV Power Converter - Converter Only - VN99ZR

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Victron Orion-Tr 48/48-8A. It's an isolated DC to DC converter. It's compact, and it has a rugged power module that's gonna deliver reliable DC power when and where you need it most. So, folks, this takes, again, a 48 volt input, converts it to a regulated 48 volt DC output, and then delivers up to eight amps of continuous current.

So about 380 watts. That's gonna be perfect for supplying sensitive electronics, control systems, or even auxiliary loads in larger 48 volt setups. And as you can see, it's got a nice heat sink on the bottom as far as its design and everything. It's very robust. (tapping) Very nice, small.

It's about seven and 5/16 inches long by five and 1/8 deep, and about two and 13/16 inches tall. Now this does feature a built-in protections, including overload, short circuit, and high temperature safeguards, and that's gonna help keep everything running safely under load. And it does feature an IP43 rated housing that's gonna prevent dust and splash resistance when installed correctly. Now, to me, what makes this model stand out is it does feature a galvanic isolation. The input and the output grounds are separated, giving you extra electrical safety, and also cleaner power delivery, particularly in industrial, off-grid, or marine systems.

The converter supports an adjustable output voltage between 40 to 60 volts, giving flexibility for different applications. And it handles a wide input range, again, about 40 to 70 volts in DC, keeping your current stable even as the battery voltage varies. So again, if you need a simple, reliable way to convert, regulate DC power within a 40 volt system, this may be a great option for you. And as always, if you have questions about this or any other products, reach out to us here at etrailer. We're more than happy to assist you.

I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

This solved the voltage spikes that were causing my Starlink Mini to disconnect. Super easy install.

I bought this to boost charge current to my RV trailer battery. Works as expected. At low charge state it delivers 9.5 Amps. The only criticism I have is that the voltage out adjustment is very sensitive. Otherwise, it performs as advertised.

Works great. Using it to power my NMEA 2000 network. Was having issues with some of the electronics (namely a Maretron display) restarting on engine start and this eliminated the problem.
