When your 12V electronics cut out from voltage swings, this DC to DC converter delivers a regulated 12.2V nominal output. Its isolated design keeps power stable, so sensitive loads stay on instead of glitching or shutting down.
Running electronics on a fluctuating DC source can cause resets, glitches, or shutdowns when voltage swings during engine start or load changes. This unit regulates output to a nominal 12.2V while accepting input from 8V to 17V, keeping voltage consistent. Devices stay powered and operate normally instead of dropping out.
Using a charger where stable DC power is needed creates improper voltage behavior and battery management issues. This unit delivers adjustable output from 10V to 15V specifically for DC loads and is not intended for battery charging. You get controlled output for electronics without introducing incorrect charge profiles.
Shared grounds across connected systems can introduce noise or unstable operation, especially in mixed power setups. The isolated design separates input and output grounds so each side operates independently. Power delivery stays stable where non-isolated systems can create interference or faults.
Controlling DC systems often requires routing high current through switches, adding complexity and potential failure points. The remote on and off terminal uses a low power signal or engine run input to control operation. You can tie activation into ignition or a simple switch without running heavy wiring.
A single 18 amp output supports moderate loads, but expanding systems can exceed that capacity. This unit supports parallel operation with short circuit protection, allowing multiple units to increase total output current. You can scale power delivery without replacing the existing setup.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Victron Orion-Tr DC-to-DC isolated RV converter. So, in simple terms, this is going to take power from a 12-volt source, like a vehicle battery or an alternator, and this is going to deliver a stable, clean 12-volt output to safely run or charge other equipment. Now, what makes this model especially useful is that it's galvanically isolated, which means that the input side and output side are electronically separated. That's gonna help protect your sensitive electronics.
It's gonna help prevent ground loops, and it's gonna keep electrical noise from traveling between systems, something that really matters in RVs, boats, and off-grid setups. Now, this can supply up to 18 amps continuously, which is going to work out to about 220 watts of usable power. The output voltage is adjustable, so you can fine tune. You can fine tune it if you're charging batteries or you're powering gear that needs specific voltage. It's also built to be reliable, with short circuit protection, thermal protection, and remote on-off terminal.
You're not gonna need to run a big high-current switch to control this. Now, people typically use this converter, like I said, in RVs, vans, boats, and solar systems, anywhere that you want to power a second battery bank or sensitive 12-volt devices from a primary battery without electrical interference. You can even ladder parallel multiple units if you need more current later. Let me give you some measurements, just so you have a good idea of the size. So looking at the overall width, we're sitting right at about 7 3/8 inches wide.
The overall height, right at five inches, maybe a hair over. And then the depth, looks like about 2 3/4 inches deep. So if you're looking for a rock-solid, protected way to deliver clean 12-volt power, especially in a mobile or off-grid environment, this is gonna be a dependable, professional-grade option for you to consider. If you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this or anything else that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out. We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need.

I bought this to boost charge current to my RV trailer battery. Works as expected. At low charge state it delivers 9.5 Amps. The only criticism I have is that the voltage out adjustment is very sensitive. Otherwise, it performs as advertised.
