Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we are looking at the Bestop RoughRider spare tire organizer for Jeep spare tires here at etrailer. You're already taking up space behind your Jeep with your big spare tire. So why not take advantage of that spot and use this cargo organizer right here, just to create more cargo space and more cargo carrying options for your Jeep So you have the base spare tire organizer that goes on top of your spare tire, but you also have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 bags of different shapes and different sizes. Plus you get these two straps here on top.
So let's take a look at those different options for carrying around different cargo for your different adventures. On each side you have a side bag which has reinforced walls. So that means you're going to have a sturdy kind of box like bag. Now this will be the largest carrying option since you have a larger amount of cargo space, as well as some netting on the side for other smaller articles. Now with this side bag, you do have a flap that goes over but please be mindful of that flap and make sure it's not folded in, but that it is tucked around your side bag as you secure it.
You have two buckles in the front to secure the flap and then you get to tighten them down. Since this side bag has a bit more cargo space as well as reinforced side walls. I definitely see this being useful maybe for your larger items, as well as your items that may be either in a box or in a container, and you want them to retain their shape and not be mushed like we would be here on top. Here in the top, you have a top bag. So if you open up the zipper you can see how it unfolds all the way to give you full access to the bag here on the inside.
You're going to have some netting as well for your smaller articles. Since this has more of a feeling of a bag as compared to the box which the side bag has, I can definitely see this being useful for your softer gear cargo that you're going to carry like extra clothes or a towel or your rags. So now you're going to get two of each type of bags. That's gonna be one on each side, I recommend when you are loading it up though, to try to keep it evenly distributed, it might be tempting to fully load this one and just slightly load this other one, but it's a good practice to keep everything evenly distributed on your tire. In the front you also have this long cargo bag.
So you just open the zipper and you can lift that flap up. You can see how you have a longer and more narrow cargo space in there. You also have the option of storing things on top of your organizer. So you're going to have two straps and I put my sleeping pad here, so you can see how I can just tighten that down. And this is an extra option here at the top because it doesn't fit into my storage bags. So the organizer itself is actually made of Jeep soft top fabric, which is pretty cool. That's because especially if you already own a soft top Jeep, you know how it works when it comes to UV and mildew resistance, if you have it out on your spare tire, that's going to be really important. And because you want it to stay water resistant as the rain comes down and you want it to be UV resistant, as well as the sun shines down on it. Now, depending on your spare tire you're going to want to get the organizer that matches this size. So what we have here is the organizer for a tire size is 30 to 33, but you also have other options like 34 to 37 or 38 to 40. Turn your spare into storage space with a RoughRider spare tire organizer. Five removable bags securely attach to the base wrap that also acts as a cover to protect the top of your spare. Made of Jeep soft top fabric for all-climate durability.Have put to use in back of Subaru Outback with bicycling gear. Has fabric cover to hide about 1/3 of space. Has dividers to section off 3 sections to whatever size you desire. Can also be moved easily from one vehicle to another since it has handles at the long ends. Had been in search of collapsible bins, but found this, which also can be folded down when not in use.
The bags have held up themselves well. Overloaded and stuffed full. The stitching is still in pristine condition. The attachment point to my Jeep tailgate is lacking. It’s just a plastic rail that the bags hang on. It bends and the bags can fall off. Also there is a small snap that. Retains both bags and that pops open way too easily. A proper clip would work better than a snap. Rail should be made of metal.
Easy install, holds a lot of stuff securely.
Being black (my jeep is red) it is kind of like camouflage... Hard to see just walking by.
Fit's very well on the seat back, tie downs hold in place so it does not swing or droop. Pockets could be larger, my only negative comment.
Seems well made, it is not made for the 4-door Jeep, I'll be using it with the back seat down, and have to rig bungee chords to secure the front of the bag from flopping around - I need the storage so I'll make it work.
Great product. I like the quality build and the fact that you can strap it down to the bottom of the seat. I would definitely purchase etrailer branded items again.

Works well front to back behind second row seats in the '15 Yukon. When 3rd row is up it will fit along the back and anchor on either side. Just what I was looking for.
Worked great in jeep. Now storage in RAM under backseat.
