Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit in a 2024 Ram 2500

Hi, I am Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about our Weigh Safe gooseneck ball mount for your OEM prep package in our 2024 Ram 2,500. So let's check it out. I do wanna say again, this is gonna be designed for your OEM puck systems. So the way you can tell if you have that or not is if you have these five holes in the center of your bed, then you got it. If you don't, then you have to go with a different type of gooseneck ball mount and to make sure you get the right kit for you.

You can actually use our fit guide to make sure you're getting the right kit. But what really stands out about this one is that it has a scale built into it and it has a lock course. So no one can come by and take your ball mount. And really what that scale allows us to do is once you're loading up that trailer, you can get more of an accurate reading of that vertical load limit. 'cause we want to make sure we have a correct vertical load limit 'cause if we don't, we can end up damaging or not be able to haul at trailers as safely.

And I quickly just wanna go over the safety Chain loops before we dive deeper into the ball mount itself. So you're gonna get two of these and these work fairly well because they're gonna be small enough for most type of clevis hooks to go around here pretty easily and getting 'em off still pretty easy. The way these come off is you just pull up on the silver part, twisting in 90 degrees, comes out, and in the reverse order it goes in just like that, it doesn't take very much. Now for the ball mount, this is gonna be really easy to work with, so I'll turn it a little bit for you. You notice we have a little dust cover.

If I come over here with our keys, I can unlock this 29 degrees. That's gonna pop this section out some more, that's how we know it's unlocked and we can remove it just like that. Now we'll say since this has a longer section to it, typically your ball is gonna be pretty greased up so I can grab lower down here so I don't have to worry about grabbing onto that grease itself. And when we're ready, just turn that key back in, pull it out and press down on this button to lock it up. Now let's focus on a couple of the specs of this ball.

So this is gonna be rated for 30,000 pounds for your tongue capacity and 7,500 for your vertical load limit. So what that really means is your towing capacity is what's gonna be being pulled behind you, the total weight of the trailer and its load. And the vertical load limit is gonna be the direct pressure being applied to the ball downwards and this really translates well because the scale here, you can actually track what that vertical load limit is. So if we're at about 4,000 pounds, you're gonna notice there's a four on here, it's gonna line up with that. So it makes it tracking it pretty easy to do. And this is gonna be a 2 5/16 ball. It does say what it's rated for and that ball size. So if you ever forget, you can just check there and make sure this is gonna work with your trailer or not. It also is gonna come with this case. This case is nice because whenever you're not using this, if you want that full bed access so you can do truck things like loaded up with some type of building material, you can do that real easy, by taking these out and putting it in here. You're gonna have the room to put the ball, the safety chain loops, and even this dust cap that replaces the ball when you are not using it. Now your Ram is gonna come with some other dust caps that come with the truck, but if you ever lose them, you got this as a backup. Now in my opinion, I think this is gonna be a solid choice 'cause again, you can kind of monitor your load a little bit better and it's great if you're constantly changing that load.
