Video Transcript for Review of Cummins Onan Generators - 11k-Watt Inverter Tri Fuel - CM98MR

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today, we're looking at the Onan 11,000-watt Tri-Fuel Portable Generator. Folks, this is a powerful inverter generator that can produce up to 11,000 watts of peak power, giving you the capability to run large RVs, multiple appliances, power tools, or even just a nice backup essential during power outages. So whether you're at the campground, work site, or just preparing for emergencies at home, this is built to handle those demanding power needs with confidence. Now to me, what sets this generator apart straight from the start is that it has a triple-fuel capability.

So you can run this on gasoline, propane, natural gas, and that's gonna give this, in my opinion, unmatched flexibility compared to all the rest that I've seen on the market. And it's also gonna give you that flexibility of runtime. So gasoline's probably gonna be your most consumption and loudest, but also the most power, whereas propane and natural gas are gonna be the cleanest, more quiet than gas, but not as much power as the gasoline. So you have, again, those flexibilities where off-grid adventures take you and where your fuel options may vary. So from the start, you do have a nice key fob remote for push starting.

It has a little bit of carabiner on there. So that's one of the great features of it as well, and that works up to 99 feet away. Now, I do wanna start with some dimensions before I start spinning it around. Overall, I got about 30-5/16 inches long. That's not including the handle out front there.

25 inches wide and 27 inches tall. So I do wanna come over here and give it a spin here in a second, but I do also wanna start with how we, you know, do some basic maintenance or rather where those things are. So you got a simple lever here. I can turn this to the unlocked position. Then from there, I can pop off this cover.

And now, you can get a little better look at what's going on inside of here, starting with the insulation. So it's got that kind of egg shape or egg foam, egg carton foam, excuse me, shape here. And that's gonna help keep it quiet, and then of course you have access to your air filter and things like that for maintenance, spark plugs, and whatnot. And that's real easy to access. So some of the other ones I've seen out there on the market, they don't have that flexibility and ease of accessing the inside. Even Onan, some of their larger ones, you have to take bolts out and stuff. So I like that option. Of course, you got your gasoline cap on top. You got a handle here and over there with some rubber to help with stability and grip. You have your handle here, so I can pick it up, and I can roll it around with ease. And that handle does have a spring latch here. So when it's fully closed, locked closed, then I pull this out to lift the handle. So I'll lift the handle, spin it around here for you, and now we can see a little bit better the control panel here, if you will. So the control panel's loaded with versatile connection options. You've got RV-ready outlets. You got residential-style outlets. So again, made to handle the big loads and the small ones with ease. So again, you've got your high-output connections, integrated digital display that's gonna keep you updated with real-time outputs, maintenance timestamps, and those kinda things, wattage used, et cetera. And then, of course, you have your natural gas, propane hookups. You got some USB hookups down here, 12-volt connectors, and lots of other stuff. And I won't go into detail on all those. You can read that on the product page and see probably closer photos of those as well to see exactly everything that's on here. But it does have a lot of stuff, a lot of good stuff, so make sure you're checking on that and making sure it's enough for what you need as well. It should be, but just make sure you're understanding what all's coming with the product and everything. And then, coming to the other side here, you've got your pull start. So you do always have a third option for starting. So if your key fob's dead for a reason, maybe the battery's dead on the unit that starts it, who knows You have that option to pull start. And then, the same thing, I can take off the access panel here and I can get a better look inside. So let's do that real quick. Now, this one has the pull string, so we're gonna be a little more gentle here, if you will. I've got my battery here. That's what's powering the remote start and helping to start it electronically. Down here, I've got my oil fill and oil level indicator dipstick, so I can check that. And there's a lot of stuff that comes with this that you can see in the photo set on the product page that I just don't have here because it's not on a table. And that's things like the oil that's gonna come with for the first time you use it, a funnel, you got the key fob of course that I showed you, and the propane hose, natural gas hose, that kind of stuff. And because it's designed with quieter inverter operation in mind, you're gonna get substantial power without the excessive noise commonly associated with traditional open-frame generators. So again, that advanced inverter technology is gonna deliver clean, stable power that's safe for sensitive electronics like laptops, phones, televisions, and modern RV systems. Well, folks, I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look together at this Onan 11,000-watt Tri-Fuel Portable Generator. I'm Steven with etrailer. Thanks for watching and have a great one.

  • Is Onan 11,000-Watt Tri Fuel Portable Generator Quiet Enough for Campgrounds
Hey Bill! For an 11,000-watt generator, the Onan # CM98MR is actually pretty reasonable for RV camping. Cummins rates it at as low as 64 dB(A) under load, which is noticeably quieter than a lot of traditional open-frame construction-style generators in this power range. A big reason for that is the inverter design. Instead of constantly screaming along at full RPM, the engine adjusts speed based on how much power you're actually using. So if you're only running lights, chargers, or a few...
