Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the WeatherTech Cargo Liner and how it fits in our 2021 Mazda CX-5. So basically, just a really easy way to protect the back area of your vehicle. Maybe you want to store some items in here that might be a little bit messy or just a little bit bulky, you don't want them shifting around too much and you want your interior protected, it's a great way to do that, so let's check out how it fits and how it works. Taking a closer look at the fit in the back of our vehicle, you can see how well it does contour around all of the edges in the back of our CX-5. WeatherTech laser cut or laser measures and precision cuts everything to make sure that you do have the best possible fit for your vehicle.
So you can see around the sides here, around the back, everything fits, contours perfectly, there's no areas that are uncovered or left alone. There is this raised wall that goes around the entirety of the mat, which is going to help funnel your spills, dirt, sand, debris, anything, it's gonna keep it from getting over this lip and finding a space underneath to store up, rather, it'll funnel all down, so we can just take it out and clean it off easily. But it still does have even more contours for tie downs here, we still have full access to those if we wanted to use them, as well as on the back here, we do still have ability to get into our spare tire if we want to, so we don't lose any of the functionality of the back of our vehicle, all we do is protect it. Just lifting the mat up, so you can get an idea of what it looks like underneath. It's pretty smooth relatively, but it is such a custom fit that it's not gonna be shifting around while you're driving.
It'll be so pressed up against everything, it won't really have the ability to move around too much. When you get it, it's gonna come in a box, so it's probably gonna have a little bit of stored memory in there, so you're gonna wanna leave it in the back of your vehicle for a little bit for it to loosen up and take that shape, especially if it's a warm day out, it'll probably do that pretty quickly. We've had ours not too long, and it's already lost most of that memory. The mat is made of a durable thermoplastic material, it's got a nice textured finish, so it's got a good grip on it. If you have some items back here that you don't want rolling around or shifting while you're driving, that'll help keep them in place, and that thermoplastic material is durable, so it's gonna stand up to that wear and tear of repeated use.
I mentioned that it's really easy to get out and just spray off or hose down if you want to, so I'll just show you how quick and easy that is. Just fold it up, pop it out, you can spray it down, shake it out, whatever you wanna do, and then just pop it right back in, push these down, and there you go. One last thing to note about the CX-5 is that you can fold those second rows down for additional storage. If you choose to do that, the WeatherTech Cargo Liner doesn't reach that far, so you won't protect those while you're driving. So if you do want a little bit more protection for those, if you use that often, you might wanna check out the etrailer Cargo Area Protector, just extends a little bit further, but it's not gonna be custom fit.
So if you wanna use it in conjunction with the WeatherTech Cargo Liner, you definitely can to extend that coverage. Overall, if you're looking for an easy way to protect your cargo area of your vehicle and just have something that you can take out, shake off, hose down instead of those things soaking in and damaging the value of your car over time, the WeatherTech Cargo Liner is definitely a really solid choice. I like how it's custom fit, and I like that thermoplastic material is gonna be durable and hold up to that wear and tear over time. But this was just a look again at that WeatherTech Cargo Liner and how it fits in our 2021 Mazda CX-5.
