You're halfway up the ramps, loading solo, trying to keep the vehicle steady without risking rollback. This 12,000 lb 12V winch pulls smooth and holds position with a gearbox brake, so you can stop, adjust, and finish without losing ground.
Undersized winches stall when the load shifts or the incline increases, leaving you stuck mid-pull with no real recovery. Rated for 12,000 lbs on a 12V system, this winch gives you the margin to keep moving through resistance, uneven ground, and incline without losing momentum. Pair it with a snatch block or rigging kit when the pull gets heavier or the angle works against you.
Stopping mid-pull on a ramp or slope means trusting your brake completely, because if it slips, the load moves whether you're ready or not. The gearbox-mounted brake holds through the geartrain instead of the drum, keeping tension locked when you stop so you can adjust safely without rollback. You can pause mid-pull, adjust your position, and continue without the load creeping backward.
External contactors take up space, add wiring, and create more points that can fail over time. This winch uses a built-in Albright contactor with integrated motor control, eliminating the extra box. Fewer components mean a tighter install, fewer connection points to deal with, and more long-term reliability. A receiver-mounted winch plate or dedicated wiring kit can simplify setup on vehicles that aren't prepped for a permanent install.
Jerky or delayed response makes fine adjustments frustrating, and easy to overshoot. Integrated motor control delivers smoother, more predictable power, so you can line up cleanly on ramps or tight approaches without constant correction.
Working alone means you're constantly shifting position to check alignment, clearance, and load movement. With both wired and wireless remotes, you're not locked in one place. You can finish the pull in one controlled run without fighting it the whole way.

Hi, everyone, Steven here with etrailer. Let's take a look together at the ARB Compact Off-Road Winch with synthetic rope rate at 12,000 pounds capacity. So folks, winches are the kind of gear that you're gonna carry for one reason, right Things go wrong, you need something to get you out of trouble. It'll get you unstuck, give you a little bit of extra push as it were. Well, this will do it for you, and it's a nice 12,000 pound rated, 12 volt winch that's gonna be able to be put right in the sweet spot on most trucks, SUVs, and over landing rigs. Now to me, one of the biggest advantages of this particular winch, the ARB compact, is that it is just that compact.
It's space saving. Everything is built into one single unit, including the control box. So now you can run a cleaner install. There's less clutter behind the bumper or up front of your bumper. It's an easier fitment in those tight bumper areas, especially nowadays where modern rigs and trucks and things have lots of sensors, limited space.
This really does help you out a whole lot. And starting off with that space saving is on the backside of this windshield. Let me spin it back around. You've got a couple cables here that come off, and they're gonna go right here to this extension cable. And I've never seen a winch before that had something like this.
Now I can plug in that remote cable, I can route this precisely where I need to in the front of my bumper, grill guard, wherever. And then I can then hook up the wire to the remote itself. And then use the remote a lot easier instead of having to connect somewhere on the winch body itself. So I like that straight outta the box. And the other fact is that this is gonna be wireless too, so I can unplug it and use it wirelessly.
That transmitter is right back there on the back next to those connection cables, and it really is a nice ergonomic remote. You've got some finger holds here, and then of course the connector on the back with the protective cover when not in use. So I'm gonna set that off to the side. You get the isolator here for the power, so you can keep this turned off whenever you're not using the winch, just to kind of give extra protection on the whole unit. Now, whenever you're off road, durability is gonna matter, as we all know. And just as much as power matters, this witch is all sealed up with that IP68 rated housing. So basically water, dust, mud, harsh environments, whatever, whatever nature throws at you, mud, snow, river crossings, heavy rain. This has been sealed up and designed to perform through those rough situations. And the motor itself is a nice high performing motor. It's a multi-stage gearing motor. You're gonna get strong, consistent pulling power when you need it most. And of course, like all winches out there nowadays, you have the free spool option as well. Now let's talk about the rope. So this is a full synthetic rope. It's not that traditional steel cable, and that means it's lighter. You're taking weight off of the whole assembly. It's easier to handle, it's safer under loads, it's less prone to kinks and sharp phrase. And unlike cables, God forbid this did break, it's literally just kind of gonna break and just kind of fall the ground, whereas cable can snap back, spring back, those kind of things. To my knowledge, I've never seen one of these break personally, but that's just me personally. Now again, we talked about it reducing the weight and everything, which is a big deal. But control wise, again, with that remote, you've got both options to do it wirelessly or manually. And of course you got the fair lead here, that's all aluminum. And then you got the hook. I do like how they designed the hook. The spring action on this is actually really smooth, so easy to get around things and automatically be in place. And of course they give you the pull lead just like all winches just have. There's some other stuff that I put over here on the side with the mounting hardware, just some brackets to mount the different things. Again, whether it's that remote hookup location somewhere customized on the front of your bumper and those kind of things. So all the hardware's included, everything's been coated for protection. And of course you have all your power wires. Everything is large gauge wire, and it's all got the protective coating around that cable itself as well. Now overall on this 12 K winch, you're sitting at about 23 5/8 inches long, about 8 1/8 inches wide, excuse me, wide. And then on a height I got about 7 7/8 inches tall. Now this one weighs about 75, almost 76 pounds, and the rope on that synthetic rope is 3/8 inches in diameter and 85 feet long. So again, folks, if you're looking for a great option that's compact, provides a great strong pulling power, this is a great option for you. The ARB compact Off-Road Winch with synthetic rope rate at 12,000 pounds. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
