Wiring a trailer doesn’t have to mean digging into your vehicle’s wiring. This Curt T-Connector harness plugs straight into existing factory connectors, giving you a 4-pole flat trailer plug with no cutting or splicing. The plug-in design keeps the wiring hidden and protected, making it a clean and simple install.
If your vehicle didn’t come with a tow package, this powered converter harness makes adding trailer wiring easy. It supplies the trailer lights directly from the vehicle’s battery instead of overloading the tail light circuit. That means reliable power for running, turn, and brake lights even on vehicles not factory-equipped for towing.
Modern vehicles use sensitive electronics that don’t mix well with extra load from trailer lights. The built-in powered converter isolates the trailer wiring from the vehicle’s system to prevent faults or feedback. It keeps everything running safely while delivering consistent lighting performance for the trailer.
The included 4-flat connector gives you the standard lighting functions—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—so you can tow most small and midsize trailers with confidence. It’s a dependable setup that works with standard trailer connectors for quick hookups every time.

Today were going to review part #: C56171. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four pole flat trailer connector. This wiring harness is designed for the 2012 to 2013 Hyundai Azera vehicle. Also, the 2011 to 2013 Ford Explorer without the factory seven-way connector. This kit will provide a four-way trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It connects quickly and easily.
What you would do is locate your connection points in the rear cargo area. Usually those connection points are at the back of the tail lights. Youll plug in the T-connector, one on each side. The side that has the yellow wire would go on the driver side. What you would do is unplug the taillight, plug this in, plug the wiring harness back in and then on the driver side you would have one extra wire.
Its a white wire. Use the included self-tapping screw to ground this to a nice clean metal surface. The other T-connector would be the one with the green wire. This would go to the passenger side. The same way you would unplug the taillight plug this in the wiring harness.
Youd be ready to go. Theres also a hot lead that would have to be run to power this converter. This hot lead has the excess wire that you would run up to the front of your car to the car battery because you want a direct power connection. That will avoid overloading your vehicles electrical system. You would also use this included in-line fuse connector.
It comes with a 10 amp fuse. That would be connected to your power wire before you connect it to the battery. You connect one end with the butt connectors to the power wire. Connect the other end with the eyelet to go to your positive post to your battery. This converter, on the other end, you could see, is your four-way connector. This converter is a powered converter and it is constructed using the SMT or Surface Mount Technology. What this means is that the electrical components in this converter are directly mounted to the surface of the printed circuit board and that eliminates the need for the leads which are used in your older through-hole technology. Thisll maximize trailer light and intensity while producing minimal heat and then Im sure superior operation in any rough road conditions. It does also come with a dust cap that should be used on the four-way trailer connector. It comes with some zip ties to zip tie your wiring down to your vehicle. Also has a double sided sticky pad that youd peel off and stick it to your converter. Peel off the other one and this would allow you to stick this converter up back by your taillights. It does also come with some nice very legible instructions, with some nice colored pictures of where your connection points are located. This part is made in the USA. Does come with a limited one-year warranty. That should do it for the review on part #: C56171, the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four pole flat trailer connector.
