Was not too hard to install if you have a little mechanical background. The hardest part was drilling through the bumper frame.

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms
Build quality is excellent. No issues what-so-ever regarding the integrity and the strength of the design. Installation was not without issues. Some self-inflicted wounds like when I lost lock on all the fasteners for the bumper and frontend. I bet there were over 50 screws and clips each of which had their own location. I wish I would have put them in separate baggies and labeled everything. Also, suggest you use masking or painters’ tape to line everything up before you take the front bumper and cowling off. That would have saved time. BlueOx recommends using a 1.25in hole saw. NOT for me. No way you can get the hole saw to bite. Much better is a tapered drill. Available for about the same price as a hole saw, far more versatile, and a LOT EASIER to control. I’ll admit to not being the sharpest spoon in the drawer and I am a bit retentive, but I spent probably 20 hours on the install. The issue I had was not with the baseplate perse, but rather with taking everything apart and then figuring out how to put it back together again with no leftover parts. There are two criticisms I would levy at BlueOx. ONE: They provide a helper to install an otherwise inaccessible nut. Well that’s fine, but the threads were fouled and need to be cleaned. That should have been prior to shipment. And TWO: They were explicit in their measurements, which I followed, and messed-up. By the time I found the issue, I would have had to take the bumper off – so I improvised a work-around.
The devices were delivered in a sturdy box and were delivered right on time. etrailer also supplies a video on how to install this item. Harbor Freight doesn't do that!

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms
I ordered the Blue Ox base plate, fixed arms, and Patriot braking system for a new Class C utilizing my 2001 Nissan Frontier as my tow. I installed the base plate, everything went well. We returned home from Iowa with our new Class C last week and our Nissan in tow. I could not be happier with all the products I bought at e-trailer. They are all great products and the customer service and shipping could not have been better.

Demco Classic Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms
Unit works well on my 2001 Nissan frontier, have towed the truck a few times with no problems, good investment.
Application is for a 2013 Nissan Xterra (manual trans.). I was quite apprehensive about choosing and installing the baseplate. There is plenty of information online, including videos describing installation on several makes and models of towed vehicles, but I didn't find anything specific to the Xterra. The instructions that came with the baseplate are fairly concise, but some of the pictures were not as clear as I would've liked. However, I did "dry fit" all parts before installing, and everything went together well. I was very impressed with the clearances between the baseplate and the Xterra's frame, grill, and bumper - Demco did their homework! One small issue, though: the plastic covers for the mounting tabs don't fit very tightly; would like to see improvement there. Otherwise, very happy!

Great Company Product arrived on time and the tracking information was above and beyond what I expected Product is exactly as described and of excellent quality Would highly recommend etrailer and Roadmaster
I installed this with a non-approved bumper. A rugged ridge XHD. Required a little bit of grinder magic, but took me maybe an hour max. Very easy install, good instructions, and It’s good to know that if something does fail that at least I pulled with an approved set up. Very heavy steel.

The base plates fit nicely but the covers are a poor fit. It would make sense to me that the covers covered the whole base plate. Thanks, Randy

I bought and self installed this on my 2021 GMC Sierra Duramax 1 year ago. Install took about 5 hours and wasn't difficult...I could problty install it in 2-3 hours after leaening the tricks. Weve towed the truck all over the USA since then (over 10,0000 miles) and it works great! I've used other brands and highly recommend Roadmaster tow systems over the competition.
I reported that one of the removable tow arms was missing to etrailer within hours of receiving the baseplate. This was due to the shipping box being damaged during transit and likely just fell out. After four business days with no communication from etrailer I contacted Roadmaster. A couple of emails and they shipped the part. Very disappointed having to do etrailer's legwork. For this I will give etrailer one star. The baseplate RM 524473-5 for a 2023 Ford Escape fit as expected sorta. Had to apply a 3 pound hammer as the mounting brackets were tweaked a little likely from welding and pulling a little out of square. I felt the instructions had a lot of reading between the lines, a couple of times I just about picked up the phone and called them to see if my interpretation was correct. But I just consulted with my analytical 15 year old grandson and we figured it out. (His 18 year old brother served to knock me to the floor and pull me back up again, faster than calling a crane service.) My big complaint was that they could have provided actual measurements where to drill the Tupperware where the arms go through, there is a couple of reverence points that could be used. There was a few minor things that didn't/did need to be done but likely could easily be because of running production changes. (And better packing of 45 pounds of steel by RM)

I have Rugged Ridge Modular XHD Bumpers for Jeep Wrangler JK and needed special adapters for the Blue Ox tow system. Alex J. was able to guide me and get exactly what I needed for my setup. These are working great!!

This was a straightforward install. The instructions were easy to understand and follow. All the necessary parts and hardware were included. It is pretty well hidden once installed. I highly recommend this base plate and etrailer.
great fit. a slight cut needed to be made in the bumper bracket to facilitate the round tube to fit through the bracket. but, other than that, it was an easy install took about 2 hours if you include the coffee brakes. this part is highly recommended. Fast shipping. the beast human service. thank you.

Installed on my 2020 jeep jl sport s with factory plastic bumper and plastic rock guard. Shane’s video was very helpful but I did not like how the metal plate behind the rock guard was cut away and how the rock guard had two big cut outs so I did some modifications. I cut two slots in the metal bracket and added angle brackets for extra support. As a result i did not use the supplied brackets for the rock guard. I created a template for the rock guard which resulted in two small cut outs. A lot of extra time but i am retired so time is relative. I think it looks great.
I bought this base plate kit for my 2022 Jeep Rubicon Gladiator so I could flat tow behind my class a motor home with a Roadmaster Falcon all terrain non binding tow bar. The instructions were easy to follow and went smoothly except drilling the holes. That was my fault because I was using a dull drill bit. See attached photo

Excellent service on a timely delivery. The box was torn apart but all the parts were inside. I’m sure it didn’t get shipped that way but damaged by the carrier.
Super simple install and stealthy look once installed. This looks way better than any other baseplate on the market. A+

Thanks
I installed the Roadmaster MX Direct Connect Base plates on my 2001 GMC Yukon XL myself. To ensure I could measure torque with the basic tools I own, I did have to remove all the front body parts like bumper, grill headlights, air dam, etc. I was a little disappointed that two of the horizontal Roadmaster pre-drilled holes did not accurately lined up to the factory horizontal holes in my frame ends. I had to use a drill bit to elongate the holes abount 1/4 in to get the 1/2 in mounting bolts through. Then torqued everything to 56 lb-ft with red threadlock on bolts, nuts. I've towed this 6K lb Yukon since last September, about 9,000 miles on trips and the braces themselves are rated at 8K each, so it's held up well. I did have to work with Roadmaster tech in Wash State to ensure I ordered the correct part numbers as etrailer seemed less certain. But etrailer did provide the parts on time and packaged reasonably well as they're not lightweight items. The rear-most mounting bolt requires the installer to drill a 13mm hole into the cross member connecting front frame box rails. Measure twice, drill once.

I like the design and ease of the hook up . After 7,000 miles of towing a 1500 Ram there is obvious wear in the whole tow kit .That is with keeping the components clean and using lots of Road Master spray lube. In my opinion that lube does not provide enough cushion .
The kit worked and fit as expected. I felt the video was more helpful to me than the instructions. Cutting out the front plate was a little more challenging than I expected. Really, installing this at home, on Jack stands, rather than a lift was my real challenge. But then I am 77 years old.
