If you want your setup to look clean when you’re not towing, this base plate makes that easy. The hidden design keeps everything tucked away, and the removable arms come off with a simple twist so nothing sticks out past the front. Receiver covers plug into the openings to keep out dirt and debris, leaving a finished look that stays tidy between trips.

Getting ready to tow shouldn’t take forever. Each arm inserts into the receiver, twists to lock, and secures with a pin. When you’re done, pull the pin, rotate, and slide them out—no tools or fiddling required. The quick-connect setup makes hitching up easy whether you’re in the driveway or at a campsite.

This base plate bolts directly to your chassis—no welding required. Its sturdy steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, while the design spreads towing forces evenly to reduce stress on your suspension. It’s built for dependable performance over thousands of miles of flat towing.
Already have a tow bar you trust? This base plate pairs securely with Blue Ox models and can work with Roadmaster or Demco tow bars using separate adapters (RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041, sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug with a bracket (sold separately), keeping your wiring organized and ready to use.
You don’t need a welder or specialty tools to get this kit installed. It bolts securely to the chassis using the included hardware for a solid fit. With clear mounting points and hardware already matched to the design, it’s a manageable project for anyone comfortable turning wrenches on a weekend afternoon.
Distance between brackets: 24"; Bracket height: 23"; 3-Year warranty.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
