What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna checking out the Westin truck bed mat. Now this is gonna be made for beds of five and a half feet, and we're gonna be putting it on our 2022 Ram 1500 today. Looking closer at the mat, you can see that it's custom made for your truck bed. It goes around the tire wells here on the inside and you don't have to do any cutting yourself, it just drops into place. It also has the channels on the top so that it helps direct any mess towards the back of the truck or just keeps it contained.
I like that it's three eighths of an inch thick too. So that means, if you do drop something in there, you don't have to worry about it damaging your bed. And it dampens the sound, too. So if we take this pencil hook that I had in here and drop it, sure it makes a little bit of noise but it'd be way louder and damage the bed if that mat wasn't there. Underneath we have the grips that's gonna keep it in place, and I'll show you by pulling on it back and forth.
It is moving a little bit, but not much. It's gonna take a lot to get it to move, so I like that it's on there and it's gripped against the metal bed. Now it does come rolled up so it might be a good idea to throw it outside and leaving the sun for a little bit so it stretches out. You can see it's still kind of curved up to the front, but if you can throw some heavy objects on there, it'll help flatten it out when you go to keep it in your bed. Overall, I do like the bed mat in the back of the truck.
It looks like it's supposed to be there, it looks factory, I like how it's custom fit, I didn't have to modify it at all, it's gonna stay in place, it's gonna dampen that sound and protect the bed. Now, if you throw heavier stuff in your bed, maybe you want a little bit of a thicker bed mat, Black Armor does offer one that's a half inch thick, so if you need a little bit more in there for throwing the heavier stuff and you're constantly throwing something there, I would look at that option on our site too.
