Hitch For Carrying Two Ebikes On A 2021 Chevy Spark

Updated 04/18/2026 | Published 04/11/2026

Question:

I watched the video for a 2021 Chevy spark. Does the kit include those fish wires? They seem to make the installation possible so I want to make sure I can get these from you. Also, I have two 65 lb e-bikes and a 30 pound e-bike carrier. Will this hitch support that weight? 160-180 lbs

Hi Patrick!

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11433 for your 2021 Chevy Spark does indeed include the fish wires for the install. I have a picture attached with all the hardware you get as well. We have also done an install on a 2021 Spark with this hitch, so I included that as well! ^___^

As the being able to handle the weight of your two ebikes and the carrier/rack, the hitch can absolutely handle it. It is rated up to 200 pounds of tongue weight, but I do want to point out that that may be more than your Spark can carry though. I was unable to find the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle anywhere, so you may want to contact a local Chevy dealer to make sure you are still in the weight range (you most likely are, but it never hurts to double check).

What kind of ebikes do you have? And where are you wanting to take them?

Lazer, Both e-bikes are Jamison brand. 65 lbs with batteries. The basket/rack I use weighs about 30 lbs and has a two inch receiver. Stepping down from 2” to 1 1/4” would add length to the hitch. I think your warning is valid and may not allow the bikes to be carried by the Spark. We tow the Spark behind our RV (flat towed). The other consideration would be a double drop hitch that would support the Blue Ox hitch below and the e-bike rack above. Issues here include blocking the RV license plate which I could solve by moving the plate to the ladder when in this configuration. etrailer has been very helpful in the past. Perhaps you have thoughts on a better way. Regards, Pat

@PatrickY Gotcha. I would definitely not use one of those adapters as they will cut the tongue weight capacity of the hitch in half, but the bike rack going into a drop style hitch with your Blue Ox tow bar will work. And it will be the better way to do it. In cases like this, my go to is the Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop/Rise - 10K # 325-GH-303. This is rated up to 10k towing, 1,500 pounds of tongue weight, offers 5" of rise/drop (we do have options with more drop/rise if needed), and will not affect the tongue weight of the hitch you use it in. It's a little pricey, but it's absolutely worth it. I have had quite a few people use it in this exact way and it worked perfectly for them. Just be aware that it might be a little harder to get the ebikes onto the rack going this way. If you take the batteries out when you load them, it will probably help a little.

@LazerS Lazer, You’ve provided an excellent answer to a tricky situation. I’ll be ordering this shank and should get use from it not only for my RV/Blue Ox, but will flip it over when taking the bikes behind my truck. Thank you for working through this with me. Etrailer continues to impress me! Regards, Pat

Fishing wires are included. Not a difficult install. We needed a burr bit on a drill to enlarge 2holes. Needed a shallow device to widen hole and there was little depth to work with. Looks great and sits nice and tight.
