Option For Replacing P185/65R15 Passenger Tires

Question:

Hello, I need some help on picking the right trailer tire. I am putting new tires on a small 5x10 utility trailer that I just bought. The tires on it are a passenger tire P185/65R15. How do I covert that into a trailer tire size so I don’t have to worry about any mounting issues? Thank you!

Hello Tom, thanks for reaching out. The 185/65R15 tires are sized the same way as trailer tires, but this not a standard trailer tire size. The 185/65R15 tires are going to be about 24.5" in diameter and 7.3" wide. We do have a tire that is similar in size, but nothing in a 15". Our closest option are the ST175/80R13 radial tires. They are 24.1" in diameter and 7" wide so just a hair smaller than the current tires. We offer this tire on a 5 on 4-1/2" galvanized wheel as part # AM31994. As long as your hub is also a 5 on 4-1/2" this will be your best option for a replacement that will not cause any mounting issues. These tires are load range D so 8 ply rated for 1,610 lbs at 65 PSI.
