Question:
Hello, I have a 2009 ford escape hybrid. I need to install a hitch system as it doesn’t currently have one. It would need to tow a 2017 Kawasaki ninja that weighs about 384 lbs when it has gas and about 368 when it doesn’t. I’m wondering if that is even possible? It says in the manual it can tow between 1000-1500 lbs with a tongue weight of 150. I have no idea where to start if this is even possible.

The best way to tow your Kawasaki Ninja with your Ford Escape is going to be with the etrailer Trailer Hitch item # e56AR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Escape with included hardware. It is confirmed to fit the Hybrid model Escapes.
I recommended this hitch because out of the available options this will be the best one for your application. It has plenty of capacity with 3,500 lbs gross towing weight and 350 lbs tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10% -15% of your trailer's total weight and that is the force that is pushed down on your hitch. This hitch features a black matte rust protecting finish that blends in better than the glossy finish hitches. This one will also save you some money over the other options.
To tow your trailer you will also need a wiring harness to control the lights item # 118551 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.
