As far as replacement tailgates we carry for your 2005 Chevy Silverado, we only carry 5th-wheel tailgates. However, even if you do not plan to use a 5th-wheel trailer, you can still use the tailgate for the same functionality. I recommend the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate # VGM-99-4000. The model 4000 series includes a keyed center release mechanism that works in conjunction with rotary latches. Also, the tailgate is constructed of a glass-filled, black composite plastic frame with louvers that gives your truck a rugged look. The model 4000 comes with all installation hardware included.
