Replacing A Dometic Penguin II RV Air Conditioning System With An Advent Air RV AC System

Question:

The connector on the Advent is a 6 pin which is not used for this Dometic unit. I can cut and use the three wires for incoming AC but how do I connect the CCC2 thermostat to the Advent unit?

Because the control box for your Dometic Penguin II RV air conditioning system (model starting with 641) is inside your rooftop unit both Dometic and ASA Electronics (Advent Air) recommend replacing the entire system. Some Penguin models have the control box in located in the air distribution box which would allow you to just use the adapter from the new rooftop unit to the air distribution box/control box and still retain use of the thermostat. Since you'll be removing the control box when you remove the rooftop unit the air distribution box and thermostat will also need to be replaced.

You'll want the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Wall Thermostat - 13,500 Btu - White # ADV94FR instead which will come with the air distribution box and wall thermostat.

I'm having the same problem. I am replacing the penguin too with a new advent from you guys. So wiring in my RV also has a phone jack to connect the thermostat. What do I do with that? Is there a control box I can buy so the Advent will plug right in and my wiring from the RV will also plug into?

@Robert You can replace your Dometic air distribution box and thermostat with either Advent's manual # ACDB or wall thermostat # ACRG15 options. This would give you an Advent Air controller and would be plug-and-play for the connection to the rooftop unit but would require you to splice in the rest of the wiring that comes from the controller.
