Can 38 Inch AirScreen XT fit 2018 BMW X5 with Panoramic Sunroof

Question:

Hello, I am about to place an order for the AirScreen XT for Thule Crossbars - 38inch Long Item # TH72WV for my 2018 BMW X5 Diesel with Panoramic sunroof. I would like your expert opinion whether this item fits on my vehicle? With panoramic sunroof whether I can install it on my vehicle. Where should the rubber bushes at the bottom portion should be placed on the sunroof area or front of the sunroof. See the photos of my vehicle with cross bars. The crossbars are not from Thule.

The # TH72WV AirScreen XT will fit on your 2018 BMW X5 as long as you have 38" between the side rails. When installing the AirScreen XT I would recommend placing the feet in front of the sunroof. If you place them on your sunroof you will not be able to operate it with the # TH72WV installed. The installation steps include applying protective decals to the vehicle's clean surface underneath where the feet make contact with the roof.

I found a variety of different side rails on the X5 while researching, so I do not know how far forward your front crossbar can go. If you aren't sure about the placement of the rubber feet with the panoramic sunroof, you may estimate where the feet will contact the roof of your vehicle. Slide the forward crossbar as far forward as it can go. If the feet of the crossbar are at or beyond the front of your sunroof there will be no issue. The feet will sit several inches in front of your crossbar because of the clips and straps. It varies based on the height of the crossbar and angle the AirScreen XT sits at.

It also appears as though some years/models have a wind deflector on the sunroof. This is also something to be aware of if you have one and use your sunroof with the AirScreen XT installed. Depending on the placement, it may hit the AirScreen XT if it is deployed.
