Question:
My camper has a residential refrigerator installed by the previous owner. I would like to add an INVERTER to run the refrigerator while we are driving. The ones i have looked at have a transfer switch to change from inverter power to shore power when plugged in to shore power but they also have a battery charger. When i plug into shore power the INVERTER and the CONVERTER will both be trying to charge the batteries. What do you recommend?

If you are simply wanting to operate the refrigerator I suggest you consider using the Progressive Dynamics Pure Sine Wave Inverter w/ Transfer Switch - Remote - 1,000 Watts - 12V, # PD1210NR. With this you can create a circuit that our residential refrigerator will operate on when not connected to shore power, it will draw from your onboard battery bank. However, because of the automatic transfer switch it will pull from shore power when available. This will not attempt to put charge into your battery bank when connected to shore power. This is a 1,000 watt unit (with 2,000 watt surge/starting rating) and will handle most residential refrigerators but I suggest you identify your refrigerators operating wattage to ensure, including surge wattage.
If need/want larger wattage available I suggest the Go Power Industrial Pure Sine Wave Inverter with Transfer Switch, # 34279458. This unit has 1,500 watts with a surge rating of 2,400.
With modern electronics I caution you to not use anything other than a pure sine wave inverter.
