Question:
Hello, I am in the market for a new Weight Distribution Hitch with sway control. I need something with 1200 pound pars. I have narrowed it down to the Reese Steadi-Flex, Equalizer E4, and Blue OX SwayPro. I realize the SwayPro is very different than the Reese and the Equalizer. Do you have any direct comparisons of teh Equalizer and Steadi-Flex? They look like they work very similarly with the biggest difference being that the Reese has replaceable Break Pad material to create the friction where the E4 uses metal on metal to create the friction. Is that the only major difference or are there others? Does the brake pad material perform better on the Reese? Thank you,

The differences between the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW Item # EQ37120ET and the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 12K GTW, 1.2K TW Item # RP66560 is not only the replacement pads for the Reese but the Equalizer comes with the ball and Reese does not.
The Equalizer has a 7" maximum rise and a 3" maximum drop where the Reese offers a 8-3/4" rise and a 4" drop. With the Reese having replacement friction pads, the sound really isn't going to change from the Equalizer that doesn't have the pads. The pads, although replaceable, is one more thing that would need to be replaced when they wear out. I cannot personally confirm that the Reese performs better because of the pads but I will say I tend to recommend the Equalizer when asked about weight distribution. My brother and cousin both use the Equalizer and love it.
The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW Item # BXW1000 is only going to have a 1000lb tongue weight capacity.
