Brake Lag Troubleshooting When Using Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller
Question:
I’m having terrible brake lag to the point I have to turn the brake controller all the way down in town driving. I think I have tried everything under the sun, connect the truck first, trailer the truck and have reinstalled the app 3-4 times with no luck, is there anything else I can try before putting it on the shelf and going a different direction?

With the Curt Echo # C51180 not braking as quickly as you desire when hitting the brake pedal it sounds like one of three things could be the issue. It could be in the settings of the app, the integrated inertia sensor having issue, or it could be something on the trailer side with the wiring or the brake assemblies needing adjustment. I recommend testing the functions with a circuit tester like # on the 5 o'clock pin when using the manual override button. Then testing the wiring at the magnets of each assembly while hitting that manual override button. If all checks out there, it is either an issue with the internal inertia sensor or the mechanical shoe adjustment of the brake assemblies. The former would have more to do with lag and functional brakes the latter would be the brakes not applying as strong as they should.
