Recommended 2-Speed Tandem Jack Setup with 12000-lbs Capacity

Question:

I am looking at the 2 speed bulldog 12000 tandem with 2 speed electric motor, am I correct in thinking the 2 speed will not work it will only have 1 speed on electric ? if so what is purpose of the 2 speed jacks ?

It sounds like you're looking at something similar to the Bulldog 2-Speed Tandem Landing Gear # BD500154 and are trying to determine whether or not the 2-speed operation also works when an electric motor is used. The answer to your question is-yes; the motor does operate at 2 different speeds because of the 2 separate gears on the motor and jacks. However if you're just upgrading the motor, you won't be able to operate the 2 different speeds unless your jacks also have dual gear boxes to operate at those 2 different speeds.

A 2-speed jack is especially helpful in speeding up the retraction of the jacks once your trailer is coupled, but the higher gear (which moves faster) can be used when lifting lighter loads such as unloaded agricultural trailers or flatbeds or the front part of a travel trailer. With that being said, the main benefit is the speed that the jack will operate in and save you a few minutes here.

If you need a single speed motor for your Bulldog jacks you'll want to use the # BD1824200100. If you have 2-speed jack legs you'll want the # BD1824180100. For the legs you can use the # BD183416 and # BD182415.

I am looking to put an electric jack on my 10,000-lb horse trainer I currently have a bulldog single speed Jack I'm looking at the bulldog lift 12,000 lb but I'm wondering if I need to replace my single speed Jack with a dual speed Jack

@Jan you can if you want, it will make it easier if it is a 2 speed instead of single speed. However, we no longer carry those Bulldog jacks and the 2 speed motor kit is also gone. You may be able to find them through Bulldog but a lot of their products have been difficult to find since their parent company changed.

@Jan as long as it is a Bulldog single-speed jacks with 12,000-lb static capacity you can use the # BD1824200100.
