Parts Needed To Convert Dexter Torflex 2,200 Lb Axles to Disc Brakes

Published 08/13/2019

Question:

I don’t want to spend so much for an actuator. There must be a surge coupler at a much lower cost.

I do have what you need but there is not an entire kit for this nor will the Titan Disc Brake Kit and BrakeRite Electric-Hydraulic Actuator part # T4843800 work. The parts you will need are as follows:

Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2HR2D (2)
Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator part # T4813102
Titan Hydraulic Brake Lines and Fittings part # T4830000
Gel Cell Breakaway Kit for Titan BrakeRite Systems part # T4822100
Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # e99011

The above contains all of the parts from the kit you were looking at save for the hubs/rotors which have been replaced with the correct set.

Yes, if you do not want to go the electric over hydraulic route then you can substitute the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator part # T4813102 for the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator part # 099-175-20. The lockout will be needed so that you can reverse the trailer without the brakes locking up. Therefore, you will need both the Hopkins Wiring Harness with 5-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # HM37918 and the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter part # 20036 to use this feature assuming you only have a 4-way now.
