A pickup's towing capacity depends on several details of its configuration; these include engine, drivetrain, cab style and bed length. I referred to an online owner's manual for the 2011 Sierra 1500 and in its towing guide (owner's manual section 9-97) it indicates the 1500 Series 2WD Extended Cab Standard Box version can tow the following weights:
4.3L V6 with 3.23 axle ratio = 4400-lbs
4.8L V8 with 3.23 axle ratio = 4700-lbs
4.8L V8 with 3.73 axle ratio = 6700-lbs
I sent you a separate link to that online manual in case your truck has a different configuration. This will let you look up your specific version and find its towing capacity.
