Tie Rod Orientation for Installing Roadmaster Reflex # RM-RBK22-RSSA on Ford F-53
Updated 03/28/2019 | Published 03/27/2019 >
Question:
I am about to install the RM RBK22-RSSA steering stabilizer and noted a difference in a video installation versus the instructions provided with the unit. In a video of the unit installed on a 2016 Fleetwood Bounder, the stabilizer unit is installed with the spring closest to the bracket bolted to the chassis bracket at the front axle. The other end in the video which I think is the piston rod end is bolted to the tie rod bracket. The instructions with the unit say attach the Reflex stabilizer piston rod loop mount on the tie rod bracket. However the picture with the instructions has the piston rod end bolted to the chassis bracket. In addition to these inconsistencies, in the video, the tie rod bracket is placed on top of the tie rod, while in the instructions it says to Install the Reflex tie rod bracket to the underside of the tie rod... Can you please confirm the correct installation. I think the video of the 2016 Bounder looks correct. My installation is on a 2016 Holiday Rambler Vacationer which is the same as the Bounder video.

We've had this question come up before and here's what Roadmaster sent me in response:
The axle bracket can be located on either the driver or passenger side and the tie rod bracket (B802) can be located on top or bottom side of the tie rod.
Orientation of the shock is not important, the unit can have the spring pointed towards the center of the RV or out towards the tire. Similarly, the eyelets on the shock unit (where bolts hold it to the brackets) can be located on both the top or bottom of either bracket -- what ever places the shock unit closer to level and does not rub on another surface like axle/tie rod.
