Can a 2015 Dodge Dart Carry a Motorcycle on a Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Carrier

Just have a few questions Ive already done this before but no feedback from you guys. I currently live in New Mexico and will be moving to Florida, I have a 2015 Dodge Dart SE and 2017 Honda cbr300r. My question for you is will I be able to haul my cbr to florida using the # e98873 motorcycle carrier. Looking at all the specs my motorcycle fits all the criteria for this carrier. before buying all the parts needed I would like an expert opinion if this would be safe for my 2 vehicles traveling across the country. Also the hitched needed for my car is the Curt Class I Receiver Hitch - 2015 Dodge Dart and also I know I would need a adapter to fit the carrier to the hitch. I definitely recommend not carrying your Honda motorcycle with your 2015 Dodge Dart. The carrier you're looking at, part # e98873, is rated up to 500 pounds and from my research the bike has wet weight of 357 pounds. So I understand why you think you're okay. However, you're capacity is limited by the lowest rated component, and the Curt hitch, part # C11281, is a Class I hitch that's rated up to 200 pounds of tongue weight. Furthermore, your 2015 Dodge Dart is only rated up to 150 pounds of tongue weight. So your car has a maximum tongue weight of 150 pounds; well under the bike plus the carrier's weight.

And actually that's not all. Using an adapter, like you're correct you would need to convert from the 1-1/4 inch Curt hitch to carry the 2 inch motorcycle carrier, is going to cut your tongue weight in half. This is the drawback in using an adapter, unfortunately. So at this point, with this setup, the total tongue weight you can have on your car is 75 pounds.

Instead, I recommend adding the Curt hitch to your Dart, along with a wiring harness # C56179 and ball mount # C45520. Then renting a trailer to pull with the motorcycle on it. To tow you also need a pin and clip, part # F-4, and hitch ball; part # C40018 for a 2 inch or part # C40001 for a 1-7/8 inch
