Will Hopkins Wiring Harness Work With 2011 Volvo XC70?

Question:
I installed the Curt trailer wiring harness and ran into a problem. I want to know if the Hopkins wiring harness address the problem. Fully installed, with the transmission in park and engine running, the system works perfectly and the trailer lights are good all around. The problem starts when the XC70s transmission is placed in Drive. At that point, the rear brake lights move from the rear body lights next to the tailgate, to the tailgate light light bars on either side. With the Curt wiring harness, there are no trailer brake lights with the vehicle transmission in Drive. In drive, the body brake lights are deactivated with the circuit switch. Curt calls it a pin discrepancy, and has no solution except to say dismount the kit and return it. Volvo will not provide me with answers to solve the issue, except to say to buy their harness.

The Hopkins Wiring Harness # HM11143735 is currently the only harness that is listed as a fit for a 2011 Volvo XC70 and there should not be any issues with your vehicle. It has a max amperage of 3 amps per circuit on the stop and turn lights and 6 amps per circuit on the tail lights, but so long as there is not an overload on a circuit and there is a suitable, clean grounding point then this should be a relatively easy install that provides the necessary 4-flat connection.
