Difference Between The Thule Archway XT And The Saris Bones Bike Rack
Question:
I was looking at the Thule 9010xt vs the Saris Bones 3. I will have one adult bike and 2 kids bikes. Which would you recommend or suggest? I plan on taking the kids for rides as they are too small right now to start from the house. I am looking for security, ease of racking the bikes etc. Thanks in advance!

Both the Thule Archway XT 3-Bike Rack part # TH9010XT and the Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier part # SA801BL are great trunk mounted bike rack options for your 2016 Volvo XC70. However, each of these have a few key differences and similarities.
Both bike racks have a 6 point mounting system in addition to an individual bike weight capacity of 35 lbs. I recommend the Thule Archway as this bike rack comes with cable locks to deter theft of your bikes while installed on the rack as opposed to the Saris Bones 3 which does not.
Regardless of the bike rack you choose, you will need an adapter bar to stow women's and children's bikes that do not have a traditional horizontal top frame tube at a level position such as the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar part # 64005. You can also use the Thule Passive Security Strap part # TH533 for added security on either rack.
I have also included a review video for both of these bike racks for you.
