How to Install the Yakima HalfBack Bike Rack Using the Top Straps in Anchor Mode
Question:
Hello. I recently purchased the Yakima halfback 3-bike trunk mount rack for my 2016 Honda Pilot. I understand that for this vehicle we need to switch the top hooks to anchor mode however i am having a very hard time understanding the instructions for how to now use the anchor straps on the vehicle. It seems that all the etrailer videos ive found are using the top hooks, not the anchor mode. Can you help?

The Yakima HalfBack 3 Bike Rack, # Y02633, will have to use the anchor mode when installed on the 2016 Honda Pilot. To switch the top straps from roof mount to anchor mode please reference the attached diagram.
First at the cam buckle on the strap, depress buckle and remove strap that has the hook attached. Then take the end of this strap and run it through the center opening of the hook (step B & C). The hook end will rest inside the hatch of your Honda Pilot.
Open hatch gate and then thread the none hook end of the strap through the opening between the hatch gate and your vehicle. Make sure when the hook is in place the gate will be able to shut completely and the hooks are not resting against the rear glass of the hatch door (step D).
With the hatch door closed feed the strap end back through the cam buckle on the strap connected to the bike rack. Pull strap trough cam buckle until bike rack is secure to your vehicle (step E).
