Yes. The Pro Series Weight Distribution Kit with Shank, 1,200 lbs. TW / 12,000 lbs. GTW, # 49570, does allow you to back up without disengaging the system. I've attached a couple videos for you of this product to help. This system includes the head assembly, adjustable shank, spring bars, snap-up brackets, lift handle, pin and clip, and all necessary hardware.

For the hitch ball, I recommend the # A-90 for a 2 inch ball or the # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch option.

You may also be interested in a friction sway control like # 83660 to assist in keeping your trailer in line with your tow vehicle.
